Shah Rukh has been chosen to replace Amitabh Bachchan as the anchor of the next round of KBC. Shah Rukh is pleased to be doing what the Big B did with so much class and élan. Shah Rukh has some experience of what it feels to be in the pressure cooker atmosphere of KBC, he has been there before and he almost took away the prize of a crore rupees.
This time round he will be on the other side of Computerji. Viewers will invariably compare Mr. Bachchan’s polite baritone and shuddh Hindi with whatever Shah Rukh has to offer.  Samir Nair of Star however feels that comparisons although inevitable will get us nowhere. He likens the comparison to comparing Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan as Bond heroes. The new episodes of KBC will be telecast from Jan 2007.

After doing the disappearing act after Matrubhoomi, Tulip Joshi is back on the circuit. She has been signed by salman Khan’s secretary Vikas Kapoor for his forthcoming venture Mera Bharat Mahaan. The film will be directed by Sameer Karnik and will also star Salman Khan. Tulip says, “It feels good to be associated with big commercial banners. However, Matrubhoomi will always remain a landmark film in my career, as it highlighed my acting abilities. I truely love acting and would love to work in typical commercial films. In fact, I am looking forward to running around trees!” She has also been signed by Sanjay Gupta for Dus Kahaniyan. Tulip is so excited about her second lease that she is even open to doing item numbers.
It’s celebration time for Celina Jaitley. Firstly, she’s got a whole lot of compliments for Apna Sapna Money Money, even though many critics might thank otherwise - the janta’s take seems to be quite different. Secondly, the gal turned another year older last week. So what did she do on her birthday> “It was a very quiet, chilled out birthday with my family in Goa. My mom planned it, and I just packed my bags and came along,” says Celina Jaitley. And we’re sure there were b-day gifts galore? She excitedly reveals, “This birthday my parents planned to gift me eleven saris. Now, I am waiting eagerly to drape and wear them.”
She’s disappeared from Mumbai, so we were just wondering where Sameera Reddy has vanished. We did a little snooping and were informed that the lady’s back with Budhadeb Dasgupta in Kolkata, shooting for his next untitled film. We don’t know yet if Sameera is missing Mumbai, but right now the actress, were sure has plenty on her hands to think of anything but serious cinema. Let’s hope her hindi film directors aren’t skipping a heartbeat at her choice of films relax guys, Sexy Sameera Reddy still has loads of sizzling appeal even if she’s doing a few offbeat films now and then.
The moment of reckoning for Sanjay Dutt came finally after a long wait that saw him spend eighteen years in prison and worship all the Gods in the Hindu pantheon and appeal to the divine in all forms and all religions. Maybe, it worked for him because he has been found guilty of possessing weapons illegally in a notified area – an AK56 rifle and a 9 mm pistol – he has been acquitted from the larger conviction, that of conspiring in the serial blasts of 93’.
The dopey-eyed actor can sure thank his lucky stars that he has been acquitted by the TADA court from the conspiracy accusation. If he had found guilty of that one, he was a goner, a life imprisonment could have resulted. As far as I am concerned, this guy is lucky, he confessed to interacting with the blast conspirators at his house no less! Possessed illegal arms, then destroyed them, went back on his statements to the police and gets only three years for it. This too, he will surely appeal against in the higher court.
Sanjay Dutt was accompanied to the court by his brother-in-law Kumar Gaurav, his sister Namrata, Bunty Walia, and other personalities from the Hindi film industry. Sanjay Dutt entered the court alone. He can be placed in judicial custody now and his lawyers will have to move a bail application. The eighteen months that he already spent in jail will be deducted from his sentence.
I would really want to know what you readers feel about Dutt’s role in the Mumbai blasts that killed so many innocent Indians. The media portrays him as more wronged than wrong and I disagree with that!
It’s not easy to shoot with brilliant directors, unless you are totally cued in to them. And that is Aishwarya Rai’s Secret of how she manages to work with a director like Mani Ratnam. Apparently, Aishwarya Rai claims she knows perfectly when Ratnam is happy with a shot - he may just nod and smile after the take, but later he comes upto you and says, ‘Oog!’, and that sound means something really good happened. Well, with her insight, maybe Ash should write a book on how to read Mani Sir. Every actor in Bollywood will be on the buyer’s list for sure!
The new gal on the block - Sherlyn Chopra (Mona Chopra) seems to be a multi-talented gal alright. Having set out to sizzle on the big screen, we hear that the lass is also busy working on a music album. Only recently, ad-man Prahlad Kakkar, after mush insisting, was privy to the seven tracks she had recorded for the album and we hear he was quite impressed with it. Says Sherlyn chopra “He’s in love with the album and says it’s uniquely unique. SO much appreciation, and coming from a man of his stature - I am floored!” Now, let’s hope the man wasn’t only being polite and politically correct. We will have to wait and watch. The king Shahrukh Khan is having a field day. Litterally after a long time a shoot has been ‘all play’ for the actor. We guess SRK took the ‘all work and no play makes you a dull boy’ phrase too seriously. No wonder we heard of him partying with a gang of eleven gals (only his co-stars) in Australia where they are shooting for Chak De. We are just kidding guys; we can’t ever imagine the dynamic Shahrukh Khan being even vaguely dull - on-screen or off-screen. But the fact is that he’s been playing a lot of hockey on the field, all for the film of course. That’s duty work-outs which have become Shah Rukh’s regimen lately. Here is one prob that’s really strange. Director Anurag Kashyap is worried about his actors performing well. Apparently Kashyap says that his lead actor in No Smoking, John abraham, has really opened up tremendously as an actor and leading lady Ayesha Takia is proving to be a natural. And this has become a source of worry for him he now feels the onus of the film looking good finally will be on him, since nobody will blame his lead pair if the film doesn’t do well. All the more reason for Anurag to work extra hard, what say folks?
It’s really strange how the idea for a film originates sometimes. Apparently, actor Abhishek Bachchan, relating how he actually signed Mani Ratnams Guru. informs that ratnam and he were actually working on a different script when the director suddenly had a change of heart. He told Abhishek Bachchan that he felt like making Guru instead because he found it to be very intresting. Abhishek Bachchan, who response his trust in the filmmaker, heard him out and immediately agreed to do the movie.
Neha Dhupia is quite excited about her latest film, because it is a new character role she is playing after a long time. “I am doing this film titled Ek Chalis Ki last Local, which is almost real time cinema. It’s about how Mumbai city can drive you nuts in two hours and ten mintues,” inorms Neha Dhupia. So should her fans, who are accustomed to her dare-to-bare attitude expevt something drastically different from her usual roles? “Today people are asking for different cinema and that’s why I think this will work. If you continuw to do the same things, It’s no fun. The opportunities to dance around trees are plenty, but to do something like this far more nouroshing as an actor,” says Neha. Do her fans agree? Well, it stems from her love for spicy food. “I love any kind of junk food, especially chaats like paani puri, bhelpuri - with an extra dash of spicy chutney. In fact, I have a credit system with all the chaat wallahs down my lane. They know my exact taste. I can live on junk food,” admits Ameesha Patel. So guys, to lead a healthy life - add a bit of spice to your life. We are not saying this - it’s our mistress of spices little secret of staying.
Guess what’s Salman Khan’s latest obsession? It’s his set of expensive Hayabusa bikes which he loves to ride all the time. In, fact he is so obsessed with his new set of sports bikes that he rides to shoots also. And though some people like Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera have been lucky to get a ride with the actor, lesser mortals haven’t had the privilege yet. Recently, an associate director of Ravi Chopra asked Salman for a ride on his bike, “He was so scared, he got off the bike and ran for his life and promised never to pillion ride with Salman,” laughs a unit member of Babul. Must say, it’s a smart move on Salman’s part to keep unwanted people at bay.
Rani Mukherjee seems to have learnt to ride a bike the hard way - which included a few bruises. Talking about her disastrous attempt at bike riding, her co-star from Babul Salman Khan says, “I was teaching her how to ride a bike. I told her to release the clutch slowly, but it’s obvious she didn’t take my advice seriously. She started the bike, released the clutch and raced the accelerator. The bike jumped a few meters high, and landed hard on the ground. I have never seen anything like that in my life before. It was a 10-year-old bike and was owned by a british guy and he was extremely possessive of his bike. Though it was 10 years old, he had maintained it in brand new condition. When the bike fell down, we forgot about rani and everyone on the set was looking at the british guy for his reaction. But he took it in right spirit and laughingly told me, “Mr Khan, I would sacrifice 10 bikes to see action like that!“
The John Abraham-Bipasha Basu jodi is getting hotter. We all know about how hung-up they are on each other. Yeah, in spite of all those rumours and controverises that keep hitting them so often, this pair is really going strong. In fact, of late John can’t stop drooling over his lady love. We will tell you the reason, and believe us it’s filmi, very filmi. He watched Dhoom 2, and apparently Johnny Boy couldn’t get his eyes off Bips. Of course, her clarifications followed, along with her bold claims, “Death threats do not scare me.” That’s the real sherawat style. The demure Katrina Kaif was also in the center of a storm. Nothing to do with Salman Khan, instead, the court issued a notice wearing a Knee-length skirt inside the dargah premises while filming for Namaste London. and last but not the least, the Hollywood beauty shooting in india Angelina Jolie, was the ’storm stealer’ - even her bodyguard accused of untruely behaviour made it to the headlines.
