She might look like the perfect baby doll on-screen with her peaches ‘n’ soft complexion and clothes in pinks and pastels. But off-screen actress Ameesha Patel is more like a ‘spice’ gal. Well, it stems from her love for spicy food. “I love any kind of junk food, especially chaats like paani puri, bhelpuri – with an extra dash of spicy chutney. In fact, I have a credit system with all the chaat wallahs down my lane. They know my exact taste. I can live on junk food,” admits Ameesha Patel. So guys, to lead a healthy life – add a bit of spice to your life. We are not saying this – it’s our mistress of spices little secret of staying.

Guess what’s Salman Khan’s latest obsession? It’s his set of expensive Hayabusa bikes which he loves to ride all the time. In, fact he is so obsessed with his new set of sports bikes that he rides to shoots also. And though some people like Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera have been lucky to get a ride with the actor, lesser mortals haven’t had the privilege yet. Recently, an associate director of Ravi Chopra asked Salman for a ride on his bike, “He was so scared, he got off the bike and ran for his life and promised never to pillion ride with Salman,” laughs a unit member of Babul. Must say, it’s a smart move on Salman’s part to keep unwanted people at bay.

Rani Mukherjee seems to have learnt to ride a bike the hard way – which included a few bruises. Talking about her disastrous attempt at bike riding, her co-star from Babul Salman Khan says, “I was teaching her how to ride a bike. I told her to release the clutch slowly, but it’s obvious she didn’t take my advice seriously. She started the bike, released the clutch and raced the accelerator. The bike jumped a few meters high, and landed hard on the ground. I have never seen anything like that in my life before. It was a 10-year-old bike and was owned by a british guy and he was extremely possessive of his bike. Though it was 10 years old, he had maintained it in brand new condition. When the bike fell down, we forgot about rani and everyone on the set was looking at the british guy for his reaction. But he took it in right spirit and laughingly told me, “Mr Khan, I would sacrifice 10 bikes to see action like that!“

The John Abraham-Bipasha Basu jodi is getting hotter. We all know about how hung-up they are on each other. Yeah, in spite of all those rumours and controverises that keep hitting them so often, this pair is really going strong. In fact, of late John can’t stop drooling over his lady love. We will tell you the reason, and believe us it’s filmi, very filmi. He watched Dhoom 2, and apparently Johnny Boy couldn’t get his eyes off Bips. He’s all gung-ho about her performance and makes no bones about admitting it too. Talk about falling in love all over again, this jodi is heading that way.

If there’s one thing for which you can count on Bipasha basu, it is her penchant for giving her fans a new refreshing look with every film. And she shares this trademark with Hrithik Roshan, whom she has worked with recently. When we pointed out this fact to her, the actress laughed and replied, “Well, Hrithik does very few films, but I do so many films in a year. And I am a heroine at the end of the day, so I certainly have to look good too.” Incidentally, going by the Roshan father-son track record, the actress claims she would love to have a father like rakesh roshan too! Hey, now, you can’t have everything, can you?

This week has been quite a star-croosed week for our beauties. Rani Mukherjee was embroiled in a controversy with the media in Banaras. After a long day of verbal blows, the issue has dwindled. The customs have been looking at Aishwarya Rai suspiciously about a certain package she received with an enormous sum of MOOLAH in it. She’s given no comments about it, though the media has given all its headline space to the lady. Then not so far behind is the queen of controvery – Mallika Sherawat who’s at the receiving end. Thankfully, it’s not from the media this time. A person from Mallika Sherwat’s own community, a Jat, has been tormenting her with death threats for her alleged comments on the Jat community. Of course, her clarifications followed, along with her bold claims, “Death threats do not scare me.” That’s the real sherawat style. The demure Katrina Kaif was also in the center of a storm. Nothing to do with Salman Khan, instead, the court issued a notice wearing a Knee-length skirt inside the dargah premises while filming for Namaste London. and last but not the least, the Hollywood beauty shooting in india Angelina Jolie, was the ‘storm stealer’ – even her bodyguard accused of untruely behaviour made it to the headlines. It’s not hot male, but a laptop that is Bipasha Basu’s best friend. “Yes, it is. Or on second thoughts, Suzanne Roshan is my best friend. As for John Abraham, he can never be my best friend….he is my boyfriend,” Bipasha says. But there is a good reason why Bipasha is turning net savvy – she is launching her own website. “I am launching my own website. It will be maintained entirely by me. And it will have regular, almost daily updates of my life, my ideas, thoughts, observations and basically things that I want to share with my audience,” she reveals. And there is going to be more too….auctions of her personal stuff. “Every month I will auction away stuff like clothes etc, and the proceeds will go directly to the Make A Wish foundation which i have benn associated with for two years,” she says. Even though the Mumbai police at times comes in for much flak and severe criticism, there is one Mumbaikaar who wants to give the police force a pat on their backs for the good work they are doing. And he happens to be John Abraham. “Despite all the criticism, at least people are working safely here and it’s a safe city for women especially at night. The credit for this goes to the Mumabi Police. They have succeeded in maintaining law and order in the city,” says John. And coming from the hunky actor, it’s certainly going to boost the morale of the Mumbai Police.

With the kind of romantic she has been doing, one would have thought Kangana Ranaut would be far from being a favourite with kiddies. But the actress was pleasantly surprised recently when at a hotel lobby, she suddenly found herself rounded by kids shyly asking her for autographs. That’s one experience the actress is going to cherish for a long time. Now, how about some children’s films for a change, Kangana Ranaut?

Music director Pritam and actress Mallika Sherawat seem to be developing quite an affinity for each other – what else can one conclude when the two of them keep working together? After the good response to their earlier film Pyar Ke Side Effects, the two are looking forward to working together again in Fauj Mein Mauj. Considering the success of the music of earlier film, we wonder if Mallika sherawat and Pritam are trying to compete with Emraan Hashmi – Himesh Reshammiya combination?

Himesh Reshammiya’s song is in the news again. This time though, the ghosts have nothing to do with it. One of Himesh’s nasal gems, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, helped the Mumbai cops crack a Rs. 4.5 crore diamond theft from the home of Pratap Zaveri, a jewelery store owner. This is how the story goes..
Divesh Borse, a carpenter working at Pratap’s residence, stole diamonds worth Rs. 4.5 crore from a secret drawer in one of the cupboards. He then decided to sell off a few diamonds and have fun at a dance bar in Borivali. Over two evenings Borse spent a lakh on one singer giving him the glad eye. all to the tune of Humko Deewana…
On the third night, a drunk Borse, convinced that the song was his lucky refrain, insisted that the orchestra play it repeatedlly. When other patrons objected, he started showring 1000 rupees notes and boasted that he was the richest patron there. Unfotunately for Borse, present in the bar was a police informer, who alerted the Crime Branch Office. They promptly arrived, and found Borse carying diamonds worth Rs 30 on his person. Winter time to play in the sun. Go golfing. It is also the polo season, and its afternoon dos. And around – they go to see and be seen. Set trends. Bring to india the latest on the international ramp, which this year seems to be sporty chic. That means sweatshirts, corduroys, short jackets, hound tooth check trousers….because both men and women aim at looking fashionable, but feeling comfortable. So, structured looks and sophisticated flares, new age fabrics and colours will be in. Think Roberto Cavalli, at the Milan Fashion Week, or Michael Villbrachr’s sporty pant suits at the New York One, or lacoste’s latest Fall/winter collection. Designed by Christopher Lemaire, many admired the innovation and funky twist of the outfits. Reason enough for them to launch the same in india? Fashion is about being comfortable, thus, Lacoste’s latest collection is in innovative fabrics, while the casual style makes it just perfect for the season, And, of course, the colours like lollipop pink for men and eclipse blue for women, make the collection peppy.
Agrees Designer Hemant Trevedi, “Casual, sporty chic is a welcome trend. It is a break from bling and over embellishment. It is ideal daywear during winters. Actress Pooja Bedi like it funky, but accentuated with “feminine flare and funky colourst hat pep up one’s mood.” And what appeals to the Gen-Xers is the hip-hop touch. Says Katrina Kaif, “Casual chic is an understated form of dressing up. Lacoste’s latest range – spells style and relaxed elegance. I love their moleskin-feeel jackets.” Source: ‘Times of India’
