This is an old one that Ramgopal Verma and Ramesh Sippy’s son Suscha Sippy had been fighting for the rights of ‘Sholay’ remake in the court. The court had given its verdict in favour of Sippy, due to which Ramu had to change the name of his film to ‘RGV Ki Aag’. He also had to rename Gabbar’s character as Babban.
Now, Sippy has sold the entire rights of his ‘Sholay’ to Pritish Nandy Communications in a 100 million dollar deal. Pritish will make an animated version of the classic. Sanjay Gupta, Shankar and Priyadarshan have been chosen to direct the film and the work has already started on the animation.

We had informed you that Sushmita Sen is being considered for the negative role in T-series ‘Karz’ remake, but things seem to have taken a turn. Now, with Himesh Reshammiya playing Rishi Kapoor’s role, Feroz Khan playing Prem Nath’s ‘Sir Juda’ character, it is Urmila Matondkar who will play Simi Garewal’s character ‘Kamini’. Inspired by the stirs the lady has created with her ‘Mehbooba Mehbooba’ dance number in Ramgopal Verma’s ‘Aag’, this remake will also have Urmila’s special dance number. The search is on for the actors to play Tina Munim’s and Pran’s character.

Gitanjali group unveiled a new collection called the ‘Wimbledon Jewellery‘, which includes a diamond studded tennis ball, which will be presented to winner of the men’s Wimbledon champion of 2007.
The ball from the Tesoro range of the group, which was unveiled by Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta, is a fine blend of 24-carat gold, studded with diamonds and valued at approximately Rs 35 lakhs.

When sexy Mallika Sherawat was signed against subtle Rahul Bose for ‘Pyar Ke Side Effects’, everyone raised a brow and expressed their reservations, but the film proved to be a fair success at the box-office.
Now, the actors have been reportedly teamed up again by Venus Films for their production venture ‘Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam’. The movie will be of a romantic comedy genre with an element of thriller. Directed by Sanjay Chell, the film will also star Paresh Rawal.
Venus Films had previously approached Tabu for the leading lady’s role in the film but dropped the idea because they found Tabu a little too mature for the role.

After a successful woman oriented serial ‘Thoda Sa Aasman’ on National television, one time talented actress Deepti Naval is planning to venture into the field of direction and has expressed her desire to cast Madhuri Dixit for the lead role.
‘Yes I’ll be directing a film soon. I’ve finished scripting it. It’s based on a short story by Hindi litterateur Prem Prakash. I’ve completely re-worked the story and taken it into a different tangent,’ Deepti told IANS.
Deepti has set her first film in the Kangra Valley for the reason that the film requires that far-from-the-madding-crowd ambience. The film is about a woman and her various relationships.
‘I don’t want to cast myself in my first directorial venture. But I don’t mind directing myself in the future,’ she added.

Saturday morning was a gloomy one for the actor Salman Khan as he came out of his Bandra home, surrounded by his family, to surrender himself.
“I think as a responsible citizen I should go and surrender in Jodhpur,†said Khan.
He left for the airport with his lawyer Bishnoi and his brother Sohail Khan. At the Jodhpur airport, the police were waiting with its paperwork ready to complete the formalities to arrest the star. The actor, looking impassive behind sunglasses, was taken out of the airport and driven straight to the courthouse. There he presented himself in front the judge and then it was straight to jail where he will have spend quite a few days at the very least as Prisoner Number 343 in a white prison uniform.

After ‘Kaalpurush’, Sameera Reddy’s second Bengali film with Buddhadeb Dasgupta, ‘Ami Yasin Arr Amar Madhubala’ (The Voyeurs) will be shown at Toronto, London and Athens film festivals. This will be B.A.G film’s first production to be shown in the Toronto International film festival. The film also stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and Amitav Bhattacharya. Shot in urban India, this film explains how simple acts of passion can change one’s destiny in a politically charged up atmosphere. The film has Sameera Reddy in a de-glamorised look. Sameera’s short film titled ‘Migration’ with Mira Nair will also be shown at the event.
Sameera is all praises for Dasgupta and says, “It’s been a pleasure working with dada. He was confident about me and that acted as a motivation for me, to act in a Bengali film. He announced ‘Ami Yasin Arr Amar Madhubala’ at the press conference of ‘Kaalpurush’, and also declared that he will be casting me in it.â€
