Once again multiplexes owners went into war of words with Yash Raj Films on the issue of banner’s release of Tashan starring Kareena, Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapur and Akshay Kumar. Movie, however, is released appropriately per schedule at single screen theaters.
Vishal Anand, vice president, Fun Republic theatre, Mumbai said, “We had a meeting with Yash Raj representatives but we could not resolve the problem,” However, he was very hopeful of issues being resolved as earliest. However, as the exact details for the exact amount of money is not clear shared between multiplexes and production houses, the multiplexes are not in mood to compromise with production houses for sharing revenue.
The impact of this financial issue is not impacting the premiere of the movies for the first time instead it delayed the screening of the movies Even Anees Bazme’s Welcome, Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par and Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar.

It all went out of control at Nehru stadium Chennai in presence of super stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Jackie Chan, Himesh Reshammiya at the music launch of Kamal Hassan’s Movie ‘Dashavataram’. And this all happened when crowd at the stadium came to know about presence of Kamal Hassan in stadium and the fan’s of Kamal Hasan went berserk to the extent that police had to interfere into the states of affairs and lathi-chargedwhoever came across their way in the stadium without any distinction, whether it be media or fans!
One of the senior media correspondents expressed his experience in Chennai as complete shock, “People worship their stars like gods in the south unlike Mumbai! Kamal’s fans tore their shirts, carried his photos, and brought their young kids just to get a glimpse of their icon! It was simply maddening!” So this is the magic of Stardom in the South.
As always, Zee Cine Awards was held at London this Sunday amidst much glamour and glitter. What made news was the absence of Salman Khan’s performance. Though the reason for Salman’s backing out was officially cited as high fever and injury, the real reason was that Salman had a problem with his choreographer Ganesh Hegde. So, the Moranis replaced Ganesh with a choreographer called Rajesh. When Salman saw Rajesh’s choreographed act on Friday afternoon, he was shocked and deeply upset at this second hand treatment. He returned the cheque and agreement the same night and then finally Zee had to perform with Shah Rukh, Upen Patel, Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena, and Jay Sean. Salman’s girlfriend Katrina who was already in London on Thursday performed solo.

Filmmaker R Balakrishnan has started his next venture after ‘Cheeni Kum’. This one is titled ‘Pa’ and will have Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan playing father and son. Big B will have no leading lady opposite him and Abhishek will have Vidya Balan playing his love interest. Earlier Aishwarya was considered for the role, but later dropped off.
Balki, as Balakrishnan is popularly called, says he can already visualize Vidya as the love interest of Abhi in ‘Pa’.
The film is a light-hearted comedy about bonding between father and son. The movie will also star Paresh Rawal . Illayaraja , who has already composed music for ‘Cheeni Kum’, will be Pa’s music director.
Vidya has already shared screen space with Amitabh and Abhishek in ‘Guru’ and ‘Eklavya’.
Director Kunal Kohli (Fanaa fame) was in a real fix as he could not find a suitable name for his new venture. The film starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee was ready but nameless. The crew burnt the midnight oil with so much of desperation that Kunal even announced that he would give a Macbook Pro, a laptop, to anyone who came up with a nice name.
However, finally the trial is over for Kohli as he unveiled the look of his film with the title ‘Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic’ in a press meet on April 23rd at Yashraj studios. The film will hit the theatres on June 27.
Kim Sharma’s career is going through its slackest phase ever. She was last seen in the forgettable flick ‘Chhodon Naa Yaar’, but the girl seems geared up as she has now signed director Indra Kumar’s next untitled film. This will be Indra Kumar’s next comedy after last year’s rib-tickling comedy ‘Dhamaal’ and Kim will be seen playing a catholic girl in the flick.
Kim Sharma revealed, “Yes I am going to start shooting for Indra Kumar’s film from Monday. The as yet untitled film is a comedy and stars Sunil Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Tulip Joshi, Aashish Chaudhary and Javed Jaffrey. I play a Catholic girl in the film.”

HAHK, starring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit that screened on cinema halls for more than five years proved to one of the biggest hits of Bollywood. As it appears that Salman is already casted into the movie as he feels indebted to Rahshri production to give him first break as a star in Maine Pyaar Kiya and made him star overnight. HAHK sequel will also star the Vivah couple, Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. It is not clear whether Madhuri would act in a role offered to him.
Unappeased with the attitude of Maharsahtra government Bollywood has shifted ball against the maker’s of pirated DVDs, VCDs and CDs into the court of central government.
Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has urged railway minister Lalu Yadav to order Station Masters of the different stations to prohibit selling of pirated CDs and DVDs from the stations by vendors. “The film industry contributes so much to the state exchequer, so we hope that the government will do something about it. The pirates are eating into our legitimate revenues,” said TP Aggarwal, president of IMPPA.
It is termed as sorry state of affairs by Bollywood producers that despite the assurance given by state Home Minister R. R. Patil, the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities ACT (MPDAA) has not yet been implemented as this is well established act that Mumbai is center of piracy in India. According to an estimate piracy eats up nearly 20 percent of whopping revenue of Rs. 6 billion generated by Bollywood each year.

Koena Mitra is very upset with the makers of ‘Anamika’ where she stars alongside Dino Morea and Minissha Lamba. The actress feels that the final output of the film is not what had been promised to her.
Says a friend of Koena, “Its nowhere close to what was promised to her. She was promised something else. Koena has got a raw deal.”
