HAHK, starring Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit that screened on cinema halls for more than five years proved to one of the biggest hits of Bollywood. As it appears that Salman is already casted    into the movie as he feels indebted to Rahshri production to give him first break as a star in Maine Pyaar Kiya and made him star overnight. HAHK sequel will also star the Vivah couple, Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. It is not clear whether Madhuri would act in a role offered to him.

Unappeased with the attitude of Maharsahtra government Bollywood has shifted ball against the maker’s of pirated DVDs, VCDs and CDs into the court of central government.

Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has urged railway minister Lalu Yadav to order Station Masters of the different stations to prohibit selling of pirated CDs and DVDs from the stations by vendors. “The film industry contributes so much to the state exchequer, so we hope that the government will do something about it. The pirates are eating into our legitimate revenues,” said TP Aggarwal, president of IMPPA.

It is termed as sorry state of affairs by Bollywood producers that despite the assurance given by state Home Minister R. R.  Patil, the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities ACT (MPDAA) has not yet been implemented as this is well established act that Mumbai is center of piracy in India. According to an estimate piracy eats up nearly 20 percent of whopping revenue of Rs. 6 billion generated by Bollywood each year.

And the vendors completely pay deaf ears to the complaint of film industry as they are only concerned with their revenue and benefit. So it also responsibility of viewers also to avoid screening of movies on pirated DVD and CDs.

To generate awareness among masses on the World Earth Day- 21st of April 2008, the Bollywood stars Shah Rukh, Priety Zitna, Kunal Kapoor, Rahul Bose and Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal urged the masses to make efforts for protection of the environment in messages on the Internet while in launch of music video “Earth- A Song for Life” in an event organized by National Geographic Channel with focus on greener and cleaner Earth.

The song voiced by Bangalore based music band Karma6 was written by “Sawaariya” fame lyricist Sameer and composed by Sandeep Chowta. “We are extremely happy that these talented stars have joined us in our endeavour to protect our world,” Nikhil Mirchandani, managing director of National Geographic Channel (South Asia) as expressed his opinion before media on the occasion.

Shah Rukh Khan seemed quite optimistic about as he believed in the capacity of the country’s youth to change earth into a better place to live in, “I believe my children will breathe easier. I believe there will be nicer things around them to look at. I believe they will be closer to nature. I’m a non-cynic,” as he said.
