Producer Suneil Shetty is facing a real problem having to promote his forthcoming ‘Mission Istanbul’ without the leading protagonists, Zayed Khan and Vivek Oberoi.
On Sunday, both the stars were was unable to attend a huge musical concert in Dehradun by the film’s producers Popcorn Entertainment. Only producer Sunil Shetty, director Apoorva Lakhia and actor Nikiten Dheer (who plays the main antagonist) along with the musicians were present. While Vivek is shooting in South Africa for a Tips film, Zayed, though in the country, was committed to shoot for Subhash Ghai.
Ironically, Sunil intends to promote ‘Mission Istaanbul’ in a big way in non-metropolitan areas like Uttaranchal and Bihar where the stars provide face value. Sadly, it will have to be done without either of the film’s leading men.

The tragedy has left the entire nation in a state of shock and grief. Ishmeet Singh, the young teenager from Ludhiana, who went on to become the ‘Voice of India’ (thus becoming the first Sikh to win a reality show), met with a tragedy at Maldives yesterday paying for it with his life. The 19-year old singer from Punjab arrived at Maldives on Tuesday July 29th morning to perform for a musical which was to be hosted on Friday.
Ishmeet along with his friends headed for a swim at the pool at Hotel Chaaya Island Dhonveli in North Male. He was in a shallow pool meant for children for sometime and then later jumped into the deep-end of the main swimming pool which turned out to be fatal for him. Ishmeet was rushed to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ishmeet’s dad Gurpinder and his mom are completely devastated by his death. All Sikh schools in Delhi will remain closed today, the July 30th in the wake of the unfortunate incident; they want to pay tribute to the Singh, who was truly the King.

“This is a beautiful ‘sufi’ number which is sung by Krishna (of ‘Maula Mere’ – Chak De India and ‘Main Jahaan Rahoon’ – Namastey London) fame. He has cut an album and a music video has been made for one of the songs. It is a good platform for me as I am seen in Indian costumes. Also, since the video revolves around the character I enact, it does give me good visibility”, informs Manjari.

So, now the ‘Fear Factor- Khatron Ke Khiladi’ will be seen fighting with eight WWE wrestlers from Australia in an action sequence in Vipul Shah’s ‘Singh Is Kinng’. To be mentioned here that this is not the first time Akshay will fight a WWE wrestler on screen. He has already fought against famous the WWE wrestler ‘The Undertaker’ for a fight sequence in ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’.
Says director Anees Bazmee,” We had called some eight wrestlers who all are from WWE. They were all very excited to be a part of Singh Is Kinng. Apart from shooting with Akshay, they all spoke to him at length about his films. I was surprised that few of them had even seen his films. They all shared a very good rapport with Akshay and there was this very famous wrestler called Chris who even taught him some tricks in arm-wrestling.”

Mugdha Godse is one of the luckiest stars, who have even before getting her debut movie Fashion release started getting international offers, especially a French film in which there was scene to be topless. However, she didn’t like the script and declined the offer and said she is not quite comfortable with doing nude scenes.

The acting bug has bitten him too, and now controversial Punjabi pop singer Mika Singh (who created quite a stir for kissing Rakhi Sawant) is now all set to make his acting debut with ‘Cabaret‘. The movie will have Mika play a club owner. This film about the misuse of Internet by contract killers directed by debutante director Vinod Mukhi is complete and is scheduled for a September release. Telugu actress Mumait Khan plays the lead opposite Mika.
‘Yes, Mika is playing the lead in my film. He plays the boss of a club that gradually turns into a hotspot for contract killers. His character sings, dances and has all the fun, but doesn’t tolerate any misbehaviour in his bar. Mumait plays the role of a club dancer who performs in Mika’s club,’ says Mukhi.
Well, Mika does have a song in the film. It is a hip-hop song. Apart from this film, Mika will also feature in Suniel Shetty’s ‘Loot‘ for which he was shooting in Kenya recently.
Jackie Shroff has worked in nearly 150 films and played variety of roles, but this one is different. This time Jackie plays a spiritual leader Sai Baba in his forthcoming movie ‘Malik Ek’ to be directed by Deepak Balraj Vij slated for October release. And so much is Jackie enthralled by this project that he has even quit smoking and drinking and turned into a complete vegetarian to get into the skin of the character.
‘I have quit smoking and drinking for the last one-and-a-half years and plan to continue with it in the future too. I did not have the habit of eating non-vegetarian food much, but I have stopped it completely now.’ Jackie said.
Intitially Jackie was apprehensive about the role but Deepak was adamant about casting him. ‘Initially, when he had approached me with the project, I did not agree as I thought playing Sai Baba would not be possible for me. But the constant persuasion from the director made me say yes and then I never looked back,’ ponders Jackie.
Jackie, who is also an ardent follower of the spiritual guru, said: ‘Now I feel as if Baba is guiding me in the film and I am only following his instructions.’
Jackie is also working in Sohail Khan Productions’ ‘Kisaan’, where he will be seen as a Sikh farmer.
