In a recent case of alleged forceful detention of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan for two hours at Newark airport by US authorities led Indian government to seek explanation from US authorities on the incident. As Shah Rukh expressed his anguish on being humiliated as was detained at the airport for having a specific sir name.

However, on the issue, the officials of US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection denied any detention of the star, yet they agreed that he was held for questioning for 66 minutes. Elmer Camacho, a spokesman for the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection told it to be part of agency’s routine process to check foreign travelers.

The US ambassador to India, Timothy Roehmer, said the embassy is enquiring into the Mr. Khan’s case, he said, “Shah Rukh Khan, the actor and global icon, is a very welcome guest in the United States. Many Americans love his films.” Shah Rukh was on his way from New York to Chicago to participate in an Indian Independence Day celebration when he was checked at New York airport in the state of New Jersey. However, later on Shah Rukh, tried to pacify things by asserting, “I think it’s a procedure that needs to be followed, but an unfortunate procedure.”

With her forthcoming Hollywood project ‘Hisss’ on its way to completion, the bosom beauty Mallika Sherawat is more seen in Hollywood these days than in Bollywood. Be it the premieres or the red carpet, twitter headquarters or private parties, she seems to be everywhere brushing shoulders with who’s who of Hollywood.

Recently she was seen in a titsy bitsy revealing black dress at the premiere of Brad Pitt starrer ‘Inglourious Basterds’ in LA. There she also seemed to have bumped into director Quentin Tarantino on the red carpet as she has since put up pictures of her meeting with Tarantino on her Twitter profile. On the day of the premiere, she had posted this on Twitter, “What should I wear to the Tarantino premiere tonight? Would something scandalous be appropriate?” On the way to the event, she posted, “Hanging out in the limo on the way to the Inglourious Basterds premiere.”

The final episode of NDTV Imagine’s marriage-based reality show, ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’, got the ratings of 8.4 TRPs on August 2, 2009, thus getting the highest score for a non-fiction show till now in 2009.

Inspired and all geared up by this, the channel is coming up with yet another show, ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh’, with five real life television star couples who would be taking up the parenting challenge. The five couples are Rakhi Sawant and her ‘official husband’ Elesh Parujanwala along with four other celebrity couples – Shilpa Saklani and Apurva Agnihotri; Juhi Parmar and Sachin Shroff; Mouni Roy and Gaurav Chopra; and Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Chaudhary.

Nikhil Madhok, vice-president, marketing, NDTV Imagine, explains, “Some time back, there were two-three shows being launched annually and these shows were being replaced after a long period. Now every other month, there is a new launch as channels have at least six-seven new shows lined up for a year.”

The show which is based on ‘The Baby Borrowers (BBC Worldwide Productions)’, will have the contestant couples deal with five stages of parenthood – Dummy pregnancy, handling infants, handling toddles,handling rebellious teenagers and then grown up kids.

Meanwhile, Rakhi has even decided on a name for her child. “I will call her Khushi,” she says. Talking about the concept of the show, she says, “I don’t know. All I know is that I am going in a house just to have a picnic for one month.”

A few days back, the news columns were abuzz with the reports that Prachi Desai was very inhibited and apprehensive about a bath-tub scene with Tusshar Kapoor in the forthcoming romantic comedy, ‘Life Partner’. It was being said that Prachi suggested this scene which was to be shot in South Africa could to be done wearing a shawl and shooting with the bath-tub in the background.

However, Prachi laughs this off claiming it to be rumour and says, ”I was really shocked and surprised when I heard about this! I laughed at this weird piece of news! Having said this, I am absolutely aware that such things can be blown out of proportion, and could be a publicity stunt. The song ”Teri Meri Yeh Zindagi” showcases how post marriage, the relationship between each of the two couples flow, one who have had an arrange marriage and one who have had a love marriage.”

Describing the scene, Prachi said, ”If you see the song, you will notice that the bath tub is in a valley below a tree in the evening and does not have any water! It was meant to be a cute piece where the couple is enjoying the company of each other, rather than being a bath sequence!”

‘Life Partner’ releasing today has Tusshar as Prachi’s husband and also stars Govinda, Fardeen Khan and Genelia D’Souza.

Who says that two beautiful and successful actresses can’t be friends? We have gorgeous Sushmita Sen and Himachal beauty Kangana Ranaut bonging just too well on the sets of Anees Bazmee’s ‘No Problem’ which is produced by Anil Kapoor. The two actresses are doing a film together for the first time. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Sushmita Sen, Kangana Ranaut, Neetu Chandra and Paresh Rawal.

At present, the cast and crew of the film are in South Africa and sources have it that the two ladies are having a blast together. Also, Sush is encouraging Kangana to take up driving seriously as Kangana seems to have a driving phobia. Though she owns a car, she does not drive along the Mumbai city.

In South Africa, Sushmita is taking all efforts to encourage Kangana to try driving. She even gets into the car with Kangana and gives instructions as she drives short distances around their hotel there. This seems to have a positive effect and now Kangana has started to enjoy driving.

‘My Nmae is Khan’ under the co-production of Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan has made a record for being the film sold for the highest amount so far. Fox Star Studios have bought the marketing and distribution rights for the film a whopping Rs 100 Crore, thus surpassing Rs. 90 crore deal for Aamir Khan starrer ‘Ghajini’ and Rs 70 Crore deal for ‘Om Shanti Om’.

The film has been made with a budget of 55 Crore and has SRK and Kajol in the main lead. SRK here plays the role of a Muslim who suffers from the Asperger syndrome, a form of autism that impacts social interaction abilities. Things show the plight of the character when he is arrested as a suspected terrorist in post 9/11 Los Angeles after the authorities mistake his disability as suspicious behaviour.

Sherawat and Chopra have been tweeting regularly on this social networking site and both have developed a sort of bonding with each other. Priyanka, for instance, has wished Mallika good luck for her upcoming film ‘Hisss’, whereas Sherawat praised Priyanka for her success in Bollywood.

Mallika, on her Twitter Page @MallikaLA, wrote to Priyanka, “The Twitter people want us to do Charlie’s Angels. They said Bips also so we need to get her on Twitter. Gul (Panag) has a strong support too. Priyanka responded saying, “Sounds rocking!”

Gitanjali celebrated its 15th anniversary amidst much glamour and glitter with some of the top Bollywood stars dazzling on the ramp. Some of the notable celebrities who set the ramp afire included Salman Khan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bipasha Basu, Sophie Choudhary, Sameera Reddy, Celina Jaitley, Raima Sen and Prachi Desai.

Bipasha Basu came up in a beige lehenga designed by Rocky S which was quite similar to the one she wore at the IIFA extravaganza. Raima, on the other hand, got to wear the same one which Bips wore at IIFA. The only difference being the dupatta on two shoulders. Celina appeared in a red bridal wear designed by Neeta Lulla.
