More from Dabboo Ratnani 2010 calendar

Last year, ace photographer Dabboo Ratnani had shot with 48 stars celebrating the completion of a decade of his calendar. This year he is back with usual count of 24 stars, but in black and white shades. Besides some of his old favorites, there are quite a few new names added to the list.

Talking about the calendar to NDTV.com, Dabboo says, “All the stars are comfortable with whatever I decide. They never question me, because we have faith in each other. So whenever I discuss a concept with them, they are happy to go along. I usually share three or four different ideas with the actor. If they are not convinced, we work on it. It is important to be confident about each other; only when the model is able to relate to the picture will he or she be able to give 100 per cent to it.

I have been doing the calendar for many years now. It makes me push myself to the next level. Way back in 2000 when I first shot the calendar, I gave away just a few to my close friends and people I worked with. But the response was so encouraging that I felt it was something I had to do on a regular basis. Every year the calendar pushes me to outdo my last year’s work. This also helps me evolve as a photographer. All through the year I am shooting for agencies, magazines and movies but the calendar is my creative outlet.

Our space had given you the pics of Deepika Padukone and Shahrukh Khan from the calendar. Now, we bring you some new pics of Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan and what Dabboo has to say for each of them.

Ratnani is all praise for Katrina: “She is very attractive and photographs really well. She puts in a lot of effort for every picture she does. She will keep on giving the shot till it is completely done. Katrina will go to any extent to make the pic look stunning.”

He talks about Priyanka Chopra saying, “She is extremely photogenic. She gives her best in ever photoshoot and loves being in front of the camera. We have been working together since Priyanka’s modelling days and the chemistry we share is simply brilliant.”

Ratnani, who makes Vidya Balan too shed her inhibitions, says about the lady, “This is one of the hottest pictures of Vidya ever. I think she is always open to experiment. She trusts me completely and because of this trust she is very comfortable in my working environment.”

‘Stardust’ brings together Katrina and Kareena on the same cover

In Bollywood, the leading actresses always share a cat-fight with each other. Hardly do we see actresses sharing a comfortable vibe with her competitor. This time, the film magazine ‘Stardust’ has taken an initiative to make two hot Bollywood actresses share a single cover.

Before you wonder how this could be made possible by the magazine, let us tell you that the actresses haven’t shot together for the cover. This January issue of the magazine has actually merged two of their different images convincingly to bring out this unique cover with the title, ‘Kareena & Katrina: Bollywood queens race to the top.’

Temperatures are sure to be soaring with two most desirable ‘K’ ladies together vying for the reader’s attention!

It was the Auto Expo and as you know John loves anything on wheels, but hates birthdays. So he was just happy being around some of the best cars in the world.”

When I returned from Delhi my house was filled with flowers. You’ve no idea how wonderful flowers look in a newly-renovated house. My home was fragrant and attractive. My two sweet maidservants had arranged all the bouquets all over the house.”

Aamir Khan to perform on stage after ten long years

It has been ten long years since the perfectionist Aamir Khan performed on stage, but if the sources are to be believed, this talented actor has given a nod to perform for the concert planned by Cine Artistes Association with the motive of improving the standard and generating funds for the junior artistes of Bollywood.

Johny Lever, the President of the Cine Artistes Association says, “Our association has completed 50 years. I have personally requested Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan and several other Bollywood biggies to perform for us. We need funds to rehabilitate and provide resources to junior artistes who are finding it hard to make ends meet.”

Not only has Aamir agreed to perform, he has sent out personal text messages to all the big names in the business asking them to participate.

“SRK has agreed, so has Hrithik. The list is long but I must say that whoever we approached, has agreed to contribute personally. They have realised that the concert, which will later be televised on a satellite channel, is being done for a worthy cause,” said Johny.

First Look of Phoonk 2

Seems like RGV factory is bent on producing flops. He made much claims before the release of ‘Phoonk’ promising to reward anyone who could watch the movie alone in a theatre. However, all his claims went futile and ‘Phoonk’ did not succeed in scaring anyone much.

Now, Ram Gopal Varma is ready with ‘Phoonk 2’ and RGV looks confident once again about the terror quotient of the film. This is what he writes in his blog, “If the entire Phoonk story was about how this evil woman who practices black magic was bent upon torturing and killing a little girl in order to make her father suffer and how the father after desperately trying every measure manages to get a tantrik who kills the evil woman, Phoonk-2 starts off with the spirit of the evil woman coming back from the dead and brutally murdering the tantrik.

I think it is the scariest film Bollywood has ever made and it is miles above all my so-called scary films like Bhoot etc and I mean every word of it from my spine onwards….. Chilling!”

The movie will hit the theatres on April 9. and the director Milind Gadagkar who says, “If you have the fear of the dead … be warned that my intention in ‘Phoonk 2′ is to scare the death out of you and not let you REST IN PEACE!

Shahid and Genelia’s unique promotion for ‘Chance Pe Dance’

The film-makers are trying out new promotion techniques these days. After Aamir Khan’s unique promotional tour across the seven cities of India, the makers of ‘Chance Pe Dance’ have come up with another novel idea for the promotion of the film. The film deals with the struggles of newcomers when they come to join the glamour and glitz of the tinsel town. In keeping with the spirit of the film, the leading stars spent a whole night sitting on the roof and bonnet of a car. They came at around midnight on Wednesday in T-shirts and track pants at the Kamalistan Studios in Mumbai. Vada pao and tea vendors were present along with khatiyas (string cot) nearby for the audience. Both Shahid and Genelia had tea together. This went on till 7 a.m Thursday.

Actor Shahid Kapoor said that this reminded him of his struggle period which included renting a number of houses to spending a night in a second hand Maruti 800 to giving 100s of auditions and getting rejected.

“All these things are a memory. I am very happy and proud of the fact that God has been so kind to me and given me so much. I am glad that I was able to get through all those difficulties in my life,” said Shahid

Shahid said that this resembled a real-life incident with him. “We always lived in a rented flat and we had to shift from one flat to the other and my family was not in town. Due to some reason we had to leave the flat a day before and I had to spent the night in the car.”

Remake of ‘The Italian Job’ to star Katrina and Priyanka together

Sometime back, Abbas-Mastaan had expressed their intentions of doing the remake of the popular Hollywood movie ‘The Italian Job’. The rumor mills churned out that the flick would star Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor together, along with Neil Mukesh and Katrina Kaif.

Now, the news is back in circulation again with some changes which include that the remake would not star Kareena and will also have Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Khanna and Kunal Kapoor. The script has been penned down by Rohit Jugraj with a lot of changes from the original one. However, the producers and Abbas-Mastaan have already bought the remake rights.

“For one, the stakes for the heist are much higher. The situations, fights and adventures are all different – and so are the characters,” said Jugraj. Revealing about the casting, the duo stated that they have not yet locked in the entire cast, but are indeed in talks to rope in the above mentioned stars. “It’s a very big project and we need to get the biggest names in place before we start,” said the filmmakers.

Deepika Padukpne goes bold for Dabboo Ratnani this year

Much awaited star studded annual calendar of the renowned photographer Daboo Ratnani for 2010 has been out and this year it features Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Kangna Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Kajol, Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor. Imran Khan, Genelia D’Souza and Asin have also posed for the first time in Daboo Ratnani’s calendar which has only black and white pics this year.

The photo which is creating buzz this year is that of the bold and beautiful Deepika Padukone whose pose in the sofa gives an illusion that she is wearing nothing. Last year, Deepika had appeared in the calendar with a saree.

“I wanted to make her look sensual, but aesthetic. Last year, I had shot her in a sari, so this is in total contrast. She strikes a thinking, dreamy pose, and I have used lighting to match her mood,” said Ratnani.
