It came as quite a shock for the 61 year old actress, director, producer, and Bharatanatyam dancer-choreographer Hema Malini as she returned to her house on Sunday from Nagpur as she found out that there had been a major burglary in her house the previous night.

Cash and gold jewellery worth nearly Rs. 80 lakhs were stolen from her cupboard at her bungalow ‘Gokuldham’ in suburban Goregaon.

Additional Police Commissioner, Ramrao Pawar, said that the house in northwest Mumbai was burgled on Saturday. Police said a security guard and a domestic help have been detained for questioning. According to police, the robbers entered the house by breaking the window and decamped with Rs 75 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh.
