After her bold photoshoot for ‘The Man’, Neetu Chandra decides to go bold yet again with her bathing scene in Jagmohan Mundhra’s ‘Apartment’ The scene seems to be a reminiscent of Smita Patil’s ‘bathing in the slums’ scene in ‘Chakra’. The movie is a contemporary thriller set in an apartment where two people live. Neetu plays a girl from a small town. The scene which shows Neetu bathing in a run-down broken bathroom is preceded by Tanushree’s shower scene with Rohit in her lavish apartment. Although it presents Neetu it an outdoor shot, actually it was shot in a bathroom and only Jagmohan Mundra, cameraman Uday Tiwari, my assistant and the EP Krishna Banerjee were present during the shoot.

Neetu is quite comfortable with the way the scene was shot and presented and on being compared with Smita Patil’s bathing scene in ‘Chakra’ she says, I knew that Smita Patil had done a similar bathing scene in Chakra. I have been compared to Smitaji since Traffic Signal but it’s not fair to be compared to anyone. She was a legend. We all look up to her. If I can be even one per cent of what she was, my life is set.”

Actor Abhishek Bachchan has a family anyone would pride in- an iconic yet loving father, a devoted mother, a pretty wife and a doting sister. Recently, his sister Shweta Nanda gave him an Apple iPad (which is not yet available in the Indian market) as his belated birthday gift. The Ipad is a 9.7 inch touchscreen tablet which is just 0.5 inches thick. It is thinner and lighter than any laptop or netbook and delivers a battery life of up to 10 hours.

“His sister has just got him his delayed birthday gift… the much talked of and recently hogging much of the limelight – the iPad,” Abhishek’s father and megastar Amitabh Bachchan posted on his blog.

“He has spent the entire day sorting out this rather sleek looking gadget and I dare say it is indeed a marvellous piece of equipment. Have pestered the daughter to get me my birthday gift in advance and present me one as well,” he added.

Shahid Kapoor is going places. He won praises for his performance in ‘Kaminey’ and despite the fact that his ‘Chance Pe Dance’ did not fare well at the box office, he has a row of films awaiting release and he is quite hopeful about them. He has ‘Paathshala’ and ‘Badmaash Company’ lined up for release and is currently on for his forthcoming “Mausam’ for which he will be sporting a bearded look.

As he is around promoting both his films with his beard, he is getting compliments for his beard on social networking sites to which Shahid shyly replied, “P.S. thanks for all the compliments on the beard ”

Anyway, Shahid is finding it difficult to adjust with his new look and tweeted, “Starting to get used to the beard… but its weird how it takes u into a state of mind…mmmm the power of the beard.”

The female lead in Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’ was a meaty and a substantial role and despite the fact that many leading and talented actresses were eyeing on the role, it was one and only Katrina Kaif who had been approached for the film. In fact, the sources swear that the role was tailor made for Katrina and the question of considering any other actress for the role is just out of question.

Confirmed the director Farah Khan, “After meeting Katrina we knew we found our female lead for Tees Maar Khan. She is so beautiful and talented with such great screen presence that she suited the role perfectly. From among the established actresses in Bollywood, the only one we considered and approached for the role was Katrina hence speculation over us considering other actresses should end.”

Well, Katrina had a blessed year with 2009 with plenty of releases and hits too. She has loads to expect from the current year too with promising projects like ‘Dostana 2’, ‘Tees Maar Khan’ and many more.

Time and again there have been incidents when crazy fans have tried to mob or grab some actor or actress and this time this scary incident took place with gorgeous Priyanka Chopra. Piggie Chops was on the sets of her forthcoming film opposite Zayed Khan and as soon as the actress stepped out of her vanity van to join her colleagues for dinner, a stranger blocked her way and tried to grab her. The person was in his twenties and getting hold of Priyanka, he tried to pull her closer. A surprised and aghast Priyanka slapped the guy hard in his face to teach him a lesson. This definitely checked the person and saved the situation from getting worse. Meanwhile, her colleagues rushed in to her rescue. Finally, the guy was let off and no police complaint has been filed against him by the actress.

Priyanka is still in a state of shock at this sudden and unexpected mishappening.

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are unable to hide it any more. It is a well known fact by now that Deepika Padukone allegedly broke up with Ranbir due to his closeness to Katrina Kaif ever since ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’. The couple, however, has been referring to their closeness as mere friendship. However, they were seen getting close and personal at a private party organised by Arjun Rampal at his night club after a press conference for their forthcoming ‘Rajneeti’. The two danced till late hours. Even Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpayee were seen on the floor.

“Everyone danced till morning. We had a blast. While shooting for Raajneeti, we used to constantly joke, poke fun at each other and at ourselves while doing those heavyduty scenes on camera,” confirmed Arjun.

Kangana Ranaut may be sulking due to the fact that her rest due to broken leg and greasy home food have made her put on weight but the makers of her forthcoming ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ seem to be completely happy and comfortable with her new size.

Kangna had fractured her leg in Jalandhar during the shoot of ‘Tanu Weds Manu.’ And with recommended complete bed rest at her parents’ house in Manali, lack of daily exercise regimen and home food, she gained seven kilos.

“Kangna is looking very pretty with the added weight,” says director Aanand Rai, “I had been asking her to put on some weight. I’m quite happy as she looks perfect for the role of the Punjabi girl she plays in my film.”

Reports say that all her dresses for ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ are being remade as designer Reza will be taking Kangna’s new measurements.

Presently, Kangna is pinning her hopes on her forthcoming ‘Kites’ and her choreographer in the movie, Soparrkar, is all praises for her “Kangna will surprise everybody with her performance,” he says, “We have all seen her in these psycho-type roles, but she is a natural dancer. Though a lot has been criticized about Vidya Balan’s dressing style, but there is no second opinion needed for the fact that she is a tremendous actor. So, it does not come as a surprise when Balaji Productions producer Ekta Kapoor came up with Vidya’s name for the role of Tamil legend Silk Smitha in a biopic of her tragic life. The movie will apparently be directed by Milan Luthria, who, at present, is busy making Once Upon A Time In Mumbai for Ekta’s company.

Silk had a tragic life with hailing from a very poor family and having her brush with fame in Vandi Chakaram in 1979. With movies such as Moondram Pirai and Layanam, she mastered playing sultry femme fatale type roles featuring sex, gangsters, strong women, fast talk and weak men. She took to drink and later had a tragic death with suicide at the age of thirty-five in 1995.

Given her strong performance in ‘Ishqiya’, Ekya has no doubts that Vidya will do proper justice to the role.

This time the cause of the accident was the chandelier which was being used to enhance the décor during the shoot of a music video for the film on Sunday at MT Studio, Andheri. The chandelier came down on the sets and if Shahid Kapoor had not been agile and swift enough to pull Anoushka towards him, it would definitely have hurt the pretty lass.

The movie is being made under the banners of Yash Raj films and is being produced by Aditya Chopra. It is slated for release in May this year.

Rekha Ganeshan and Saif Ali Khan received the much awaited Padmasree award by President Pratibha Patil at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Rekha looked gorgeous and elegant as ever draped in a saree where as Saif Ali Khan was accompanied by his lady love Kareena Kapoor who looked lovely in a while kurti.

Others who won the coveted award include sound technician and Oscar award winner Resul Pookutty, Prominent south Indian theatre personality Arundhati Nag, boxer Vijender Singh, and ace car racer Narain Karthikeyan.

Shahrukh Khan may be a superstar but he makes sure that he keeps his kids away from the media glare so that they can have a normal childhood. SRK is also averted to the diea of his children acting in films. Recently, when director Anubhav Sinha found his son Aryan suitable for a role in his forthcoming ‘Ra 1’, SRK did not approve to the idea because he does not want to Aryan to act at such a young age. Shahrukh says that he does not mind his son choosing acting as his career when he grows up, but at present he does not want him go get into the glamour world.
