She is a perky Pune girl. This Urdu, Gujarati, English speaking Muslim girl has made it big in Hollywood at just 26. Talking about Noureen DeWulf, the Indian girl has managed to bag in roles with the cream of Hollywood such as Jennifer Lopez (‘The Back Up Plan’), Mathew McConaughey (‘Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past’) and Ving Rhames (‘Mission Impossible’ series), besides a clutch of other notable films.
She was chosen by an American magazine as “one of the most desirable women on the planet” and has featured in Maxim magazine’s Hot 100 list.
However, she has expressed her desire to work in Bollywood and also to work with Rekha. “I love Bollywood. I grew up watching Bollywood films like Sita Aur Geeta, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Coolie and so many. There is a lot of talent there and if an opportunity is there and presented in a right format, I’d love to do a Bollywood film,” she said adding, “I’d love to work with Rekha. I like her. She is so beautiful and she is a great actress. I love (her) Silsila a lot… I’ve watched it so many times.”
Noureen is all said to essay the role of a Muslim character in her forthcoming biggie flick: ‘The Taqwacores’ based on the best selling book by Michael Muhammad Knight.
Noureen said in a tabloid chat, “I may look very American, but am very Indian at heart. The competition is unimaginable. I really don’t know I’ve gotten so far and it’s a mystery to me. I’m planning to come down to India and if there’s a good Bollywood film going for me, I’d like to do it. It’ll be like going back to my roots.”
Am Movies UK Ltd has already wrapped up the shoot of ‘Chehre’ at Kamal Amrohi Studios and now the movie is into the post-production phase. The cast of the movie includes Jackie Shroff, Manisha Koirala, Arya Babbar, Hrishita Bhatta, Divya Dutta, Bob Brahmabhatt, Geet Vij and Gulshan Grover.
Made under the direction of debutant director Rohit Kaushik, India’s first black and white film in totality in recent times, the movie is a suspense thriller set against the backdrop of the 50s era, detailing the lives of two sisters. The stills of the movie illumine Divya Dutta sporting the ‘look’ of Meena Kumari, the legendary yesteryear icon.
An all excited Divya Dutta said, “I am very excited about this movie. I have been a huge fan of stalwarts like Meena Kumariji and Nutanji. Playing a character based in 50s for a black and white movie was like stepping into their shoes. But I am glad that directors are coming up with innovative ideas and interesting subjects these days and are ready to experiment with the look of the film, as per the demands of script. When I heard that the film was not in color and black & white instead, I was taken aback, but I immediately said yes.”
The film is produced by Asha Patel and Inderjit Dahaley. The film’s music has been composed by Jaideep Chaudhari and the lyrics have been written by Sayeed Qadri.
Deepika Padukone is all set to appear in a totally non-glamorous avatar in Ashutosh Gowariker’s period epic ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se’, where she plays the role of a revolutionary named Kalpana Datta for which she has draped in traditional Bengali saris. Designer Neeta Lulla has dressed Deepika for the film and is said to have done research before finalising Deepika’s Bengali look.
“It is a single pallu drape, twice over the shoulder. When she was doing her action sequences, like any other normal sari, we tucked it around her waist,” Lulla said. For Deepika, doing all their stunts in a sari, draped in the traditional way, was a challenge because every time Deepika was to run, the sari would come in her way.
This period film is based on Manini Chatterjee’s book ‘Do and Die: The Chittagong Uprising 1930- 34’ and Deepika’s character Kalpana was a strong and independent woman who joined the mutiny because she believed in the cause.
“Kalpana is not the kind of woman who will sit at home waiting for her husband to return,” says Deepika about her character.
Deepika’s athletic background helped her with the action sequences. “It is nice to do your own stunts given the challenges they offer. I am very spontaneous and did not need the help of a body double,” she said.
There is no doubting the fact that there is none who can beat Malaika Arora Khan in sensual dance moves and she has proved it time and again. Last time she mesmerized her fans with her sexy gyrations was three years back in ‘Welcome’ with ‘Honth Rasile’. She has once again stepped in her dancing shoes for hubby Arbaaz Khan’s debut production ‘Dabangg’ which is set against the backdrop of politics and crime in UP and Bihar, and stars Salman Khan with Sonakshi Sinha, daughter of actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who is making her debut with the film.
The song, titled ‘Munni Badnaam’ has a raunchy touch to it along with some funny elements. The song will also feature Sonu Sood, the main antagonist is the film. “I do feature in the song and the brief was to just being natural. I had to come up with those funny non-conventional moves and everyone fell off their chairs once they saw the results,” said Sood.
“I have danced a little in my films like ‘Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi’ and ‘Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge’ but still I was itching to do something totally ‘dhamaal’ and commercial. I got to do that in ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ and the incentive was to shake a leg with Malaika,” Sood added.
Sajid-Wajid have given the musical scores for the film and Jalees Sherwani has written the lyrics. The song has been choreographed by Farah Khan. The film releases all over on September 10.

Unfortunately, Sonali could not make it big on the silver screen despite the fact that she has around 50 films to her credit and is also a national award winner. The girl has finally tied the knot with Nachiket Pantvaidya. The wedding took place in a quiet ceremony in Sonali’s Pune house. Only close family and friends were present to cheer the couple who exchanged wedding vows in a traditional Maharashtrian style wedding.
Nachiket is the MD of Fox Television Studios and the two dated each other for a while before making the final commitment. It may be mentioned here that this is Sonali’s second marriage. She was earlier married to Marathi play director, Chandrakant Kulkarni.

The news of Dev Patel and Freida Pinto seeing each other has been doing rounds since the two actors starred together in mega hit ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, but the news of their wedding bells suddenly seemed to be taking the gossip columns with storm when the two reportedly ordered the wedding cake from the same bakery, Sweet Lady Jane bakery in Los Angeles, which they wanted to be flown down to India. It was believed that the cake was ordered for their wedding.
However, Freida’s representative and spokesperson vehemently denied the reports and waved it away as a baseless gossip. Speaking to a news daily, Freida`s commentator Divya Tejuja said, “These rumors are complete rubbish and baseless. There is not even an ounce of truth in it.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has long time back announced his plans to make a film titled ‘Heera Mandi’, apparently based on the famous red light area in the walled city of Lahore. However, he had later shelved the idea, but the grapevine has it that Bhansali has now decided to start this project soon and the lead roles in the movie will be played by the cream of Bollywood- Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor. Sanjay had initially wanted Madhuri Dixit, Rani Mukherjee and Sonam Kapoor for lead roles.
Sanjay will start working on the film as soon as he wraps up with his ambitious project ‘Guzaarish’ starring Hrithik and Aishwarya. With three beautiful and very talented actresses sharing the screen space, the project definitely seems to be a promising one!!!

The lady has fought and emerged victorious from the deadly cancer. The disease was diagnosed in its early stages and so, Mori didn’t need chemo but had to undergo an operation to have the cancer removed. By God’s grace, she is OK now but says that she makes sure to never skip her check-ups to avoid any problems.
Barbara shares this pain of hers with ‘Kites’ director Anurag Basu who himself and fought and survived leukemia. Initially, both were unaware of this fact but after Barbara spoke to Anurag about her past illness Anurag too poured his heart out to her about his battle with leukemia. “From that point we became soul buddies,” recounts Basu emotionally adding, “I feel both Barbara and I have emerged stronger human beings after fighting our illnesses. It definitely makes you understand the world around you better. My best work came after my illness. That can’t be a coincidence. When you fight death you understand life better. I’m sure it’s true for Barbara as well.”
Barbara has shared this battle of hers in Namrata Singh Gujral’s docu-drama titled 1 a Minute, to release in 2010.
Finally, Lara Dutta’s long cherished dream of playing an action-packed role is going to come true as she bags in a role in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 2’. Though not much is being revealed about Lara’s role in the film, she is supposedly playing femme fatale in the flick for which she had to learn some martial arts. Lara’ role is not the one played by Isha Koppikar, but the part has been specially written for her.
Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Rampal have already been finalized for the sequel and with Lara joining in the cast, The two former Miss India’s (Lara, Miss Universe and Priyanka, Miss World) will be seen together in the flick after a long gap since they first debuted in Andaaz opposite Akshay Kumar in 2003.

Sushmita Sen had adopted Renee in 2000 and then again, she adopted Alisah this year as a three-month-old baby. However, this mother of two crossing 34, now wants to have a biological child as she feels the “clock is ticking for her.”
“I will go for a biological baby this time because clock is ticking for me,” Sen told adding, “After that (biological baby) I can mother as many babies as possible as there are lot of babies who want the love of a mother.”
This quote naturally arose the topic of marriage for the gorgeous lady, who in turn evaded the question saying, “I said the clock is ticking… I never said anything about marriage. Every girl wants her prince charming. Though I stopped thinking about it long back but I still want to meet my prince charming.”
Sushmita Sen is, at present, training 30 girls for Tantra Entertainment which has become the India Franchise for Miss Universe event scheduled in December this year.
