The ‘Jannat’ girl Sonal Chauhan seems to have faded into oblivion after a one film show. However, the girl is grinning from ear to ear these days and she has all reasons to be doing so. Chauhan has had a long cherished dream of working with King Khan and the dream just seems to have come true, though not in some flick but in a television commercial.
Sonal candidly admits in a media chat, “The moment I came to know that I was finalised for an ad with Shah Rukh Khan, I excitedly called up my parents and asked them to courier me my favorite SRK poster. Unfortunately, it reached me a day late and I couldn’t get my autograph!”
Adds Sonal, “But even while I was shooting I could not gather the courage to go across and tell Shah Rukh Khan what a big fan I was of his, and that I had lost count of the number of times I had seen ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’. But SRK and I are in the same frame in the ad, and that picture will be my most prized possession.”
It may be mentioned here that Sonal used to collect posters of SRK and always longed to get his signature at the back of her favorite poster, which she had for years at her Delhi residence.
He may not have a series of hits to his credit, he may still be struggling to come out of the shadows of his superstar father, he may still be deemed as not so popular as his better half and popular wife, but he definitely has some qualities which make him stand out and carve a niche of his own in the tinsel town.
Talking about Abhishek Bachchan, the actor has some amazing qualities and a wonderful sense of professionalism, which has kept him going. Recently, when he suffered a sprain during the filming of Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maro Dum’, he was advised complete bed rest for a day or two. Now that Sherlyn Chopra does not have much assignment in hand, she claims that she had been approached by the notoriously famous magazine ‘Playboy’ for a photo session. In order to get a feedback from her fans and followers she posted some nude pics of hers on ‘Twitter’ which were done by Vishal Saxena, a leading fashion and celebrity photographer and Chopra’s close friend.
Talking about the feedback from her followers Sherlyn told, “The feedback on my picture has been great. Some do find it distasteful. To them I would like to say – to each it’s own.”
However, the pictures sparked so much of controversy that the actress has been banned by the micro-blogging site. A rights group in Mumbai also threatened Sherlyn with legal action adding that an FIR will be filed against her. These followers also lodged a formal complaint against her to ‘Twitter’ following which the site asked her not to upload such bold images.
Sherlyn is apparently not happy about this and retorts back saying, “My images are not at all suggestive but yes, they are sensual. Have we lost the freedom of expression? Being an Indian girl, I know my morals.”

This is the next one in tow with the infamous Nafisa Joseph incident. Viveka Babajee, 37, the famous former ‘Kamasutra’ supermodel, hanged herself to death at her plush residence in suburban Mumbai.
Babajee had also starred in ‘Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat’ (2002) and had a bitter break up with writer director Rohit Jugraj, a year ago. Born in Mauritius, she was declared ‘Miss Mauritius’ in 1993 and a supermodel in 1994. She was also the proprietor of ‘Vibgyor Entertainment,’ an event management firm. Babajee’s body was taken to the Cooper Hospital in suburban Mumbai for a post mortem.
The police has found a suicide note, as confirmed by Amitabh Gupta, additional commissioner of police, Western region, who stated, “Investigations are on. Yes, we have found a suicide note.”
Sharmila Khanna, who introduced Viveka to the modelling world in the late ’80s states in a media quote, “I found it strange that Viveka chose not to engage in modelling for the last four to five years. And nobody seems to know why.”
Well, the incident has sent shock waves in the glamour world and once again exposes the dark side behind all the glitter.
‘Will You Marry Me?’ is an upcoming romantic comedy starring Rajeev Khandelwal, Shreyas Talpade, Celina Jaitley, and Mugdha Godse in the lead roles. The storyline of the movie is based on three friends who love their bachelorhood so much they place a bet among themselves that whoever decides to marry first will lose a huge amount in shares that were contributed by all three. Things take a turn when one of them decides to take the plunge and make a commitment.
Mugdha Godse posted on her Twitter that the movie’s crew shot in the United Arab Emirates from May 26, 2010 to June 14, 2010. The crew will now start shooting in Mumbai. Filming will take about a month.
“Sixty per cent of the film’s story is set in the UAE,” says director Aditya Datt.
When Vivek Oberoi made his debut in Bollywood, he stole millions of hearts with quite a few hits and his good looks. The came his alleged affair with Aishwarya Rai followed by a much publicized breakup and then what came was a ride downhill. The actor, at present, has all his bets staked on Ram Gopal Varma’s Hindi-Telugu bilingual, ‘Rakta Charitra’.
However, the actor has his charitable side too. He has a school in Vrindavan that not only educates 1,500 girls from families below the poverty line, but even offers them free meals.
“We have also set up filteration plants in the villages so these children don’t have to walk miles for a pot of undrinkable water,” informs the actor, who is planning to have a visit to his school and also hopes that the number of students will double by next year.
Vivek is also building a school there for the children of ex-LTTE combatants. The star has been actively canvassing for corporate support since and has managed to bring the UNICEF on board. “The school will stand for hope and peace, it will be a window to the future for these children,” he says.
Vivek’s helping hand to Tamil rebels does not end here. He was also there to lend his support at a mass wedding of Tamil rebels where fifty-three couples were issued marriage certificates in the northern district of Vavuniya. He was also a witness for one of the couples, Viktalis and Rathi Devi.
“The bride had tears in her eyes as she told me that earlier, combatants were not allowed to marry and peace was only a dream,” recalls Oberoi.

Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jessia are in a major fix. There is a problem in their professional front as some unknown imposter is meddling into their affairs. He has allegedly been calling up young female models and offering them jobs in the Rampals’ “new company”. The person states that the company intends to diversify and step into the fashion industry by coming out with a “new signature line” of garments!
Rampal told the media, “This mysterious person does not call from a mobile. He’s not giving his number either and asks girls to meet him at locations that he doesn’t disclose immediately. All this, in the name of our company!”
“If we have jobs to offer, we will contact the concerned parties officially. As of now, we have alerted our friends and colleagues. This impostor has also contacted some of our industry friends and asked for favours posing as our staff member! As soon as we trace him, we will take legal action and will approach the police too,” he added.
20th August 2010 is all set to see one of the most anticipated releases of this year from Yash Raj films hit the screens. The film uniquely titled ‘Lafangey Parindey’ has been directed by Pradeep Sarkar and produced by Aditya Chopra. The film has Neil Nitin Mukesh as Nandu and Deepika Padukone as Pinky in the lead pair. Their roles are extremely challenging and this love story with a difference is set in the gritty streets of Mumbai.
Incidentally, director Sarkar seems so pleased with the portrayals of Deepika and Neil in the film that he has already gifted them an iPad each as a token of appreciation.
Monica Bedi seemed to have vanished from the screens post her arrest on being an alleged associate of gangster Abu Salem. She made her presence felt with her stint with the reality show ‘Big Boss’ and now is in news once again for the reality TV series Desi Girl.
However, the lady sparked controversies when the panchayat decided to keep Monica in the reality show though fellow-contestants had voted against her and this led to a revolt from the villagers. They openly challenged the decision of their panchayat, terming it “unfair”.
The five remaining contestants, dancer and VJ Ishita Arun, actress Kashmera Shah, model Aushima Sawney and TV star Roshni Chopra stuck together and blamed Monica for being “aloof” and “manipulative”.
In Sunday’s episode after the verdict, the villagers openly accused the panchayat of favoring Monica on account of her being ‘Punjabi’. Over the weekend, she had tried to convince the panchayat members to save her from getting eliminated. She told panchayat member Prem Singh in Punjabi: “After my friend Sambhavna Seth has been eliminated, I am constantly being targeted by the other girls.” However, the panchayat favored Monica and ousted Ishita.
