Time and again Bollywood film makers have drawn inspirations from real lives of real people though they abstain from claiming the story to be based on anyone. After Kasab and Sania Mirza and Abu Salem, the next in row is Haji Mastaan who is said to be the inspiration behind Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai‘.
However, the connection of his late father with Ekta’s flick has not gone down well with Sundar Shekhar Mirza, Haji Mastan’s adopted son who has taken action against the daily soap queen by serving a legal notice to Balaji Telefilms and director Milan Luthria for making a movie based on the life of his late father without taking Mastan family’s consent first.
In addition, Mirza has objections to the fact that the flick hints at the link between Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim, a declared terrorist by the Indian government in the March 12, 1992 Bombay blasts and against whom the US Government too has issued a red alert.
Seems, Ekta Kapoor is stuck up in legal hassles this time.
The Mumbai outlet of Zara, the wildly popular Spanish fashion chain, was unveiled at the Palladium mall on Thursday night. Even though the high street brand refrained from advertising (as is its global policy) for its India launch both in Delhi and Mumbai, with tip offs from reliable sources, the brand’s many fans poured into the invite-only opening party wielding credit cards. Present at the launch were many Bollywood beauties like Kareena Kapoor, Carol Gracia and Mandira Bedi who strolled through and picked up their stuff from the store. Check them out at the event.

Bipasha Basu is in news once again. After her topless lotto advertisement shot in the past took the web world with stirs, she is once again all set to shock everyone with her sexuality and all this for her upcoming film ‘Dum Maro Dum’. The gossip columns are abuzz about the hot and steamy sex scene which Bips has done with Hyderabad sensation Rana Daggubati. for Rohan Sippy’s film.
This Rohan Sippy film is based on the sleazy drug business prevalent in Goa and Bipasha plays a junkie in the film. The so- called scene is being described as angrily passionate and “very intimate’’.
However, Bipasha is in no mood to describe the scene as hot or raunchy and defends saying, “You decide when you see the film whether it fits the description of super-hot. The scene is all right. In fact, I think it is regular, like in all films nowadays. What is interesting is the new pairing of Rana and me.”
The scene was shot with minimum of crew around.

Now, Katrina Kaif is no doubt an inspiration for many of her fans. But this fan of hers went way ahead to follow her idol and become like her. Katrina Kaif has been voted Asia’s sexiest woman, for 2 years in a row and the actress swears by her trainer Yasmin who made her go through rigorous workouts to look a certain way for her forthcoming Tees Maar Khan. It started off fabulously with Lara Dutta looking gorgeous at the IIFA, Colombo in Sri Lanka in her Gustavo Cadile designed golden gown. The dress was quite low cut but Lara carried it off confidently as usual. Then it happened! As she was addressing her fans and signing autographs for them, the dainty strap of her gown slipped off thereby revealing more than what was intended. The camera person present there captured the moment instantly.
Everyone was shocked but Lara used her presence of mind, kept her cool, held on to the strap and suddenly went back stage to fix it. And then she was back to her role as host and even posed for pictures.

Ranbir Kapoor has successfully displayed his diverse acting skills successfully portraying various shades as a chocolate boy, a spoilt brat, a salesman, and now, a mature Samar Pratap Singh, the ruthless manipulator in ‘Rajeenti’ who reminds you of the strong performance of Michael Corleone in ‘The Godfather’.
‘Ranbir is fabulous in ‘Raajneeti’… He has a natural talent for acting. His screen presence is strong and engaging and he interacts very well with the camera. The best part about Ranbir is that he has no artifice,’ said film critic Anupama Chopra adding, ‘He is young and should do every role – from that of a psycho man, romantic hero, action star, negative roles, everything.’
Despite the presence of stalwarts like Nana Patekar and Ajay Devgan, Ranbir Kapoor stands out with his performance. ‘He is actually the backbone of ‘Raajneeti’. He brings a reined-in, steel-edged ruthlessness to his character. For sure there is no other actor from his generation who could have played this character,’ said critic Subhash K. Jha in his review.
Another film critic, Omar Qureshi, says, ‘If one looks at Ranbir’s career graph and pulls out any review, he has always been praised universally. He takes a very intelligent choice of script whether that is of a goofy romantic in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, an unconventional pairing, a coming of age story in ‘Wake Up Sid’ or a grey character in ‘Raajneeti’. He is here to stay. He is the future.’
However, Ranbir Kapoor is keeping his head in place and says, ‘I am too new to have an image and I really don’t care for it also. All I am doing is working in good stories, with good filmmakers, playing interesting characters and then leaving it for the audience. There is no plan in my head; so I am just going with the flow and enjoying the journey.’

Though rains bring a wave of relief for the scorching heat of Summer, they have nevertheless spoiled some of the shooting schedules of Bollywood stars. Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Mausam’ shoot, currently going on in Scotland, had to be shifted from outdoors to indoors, thanks to the heavy incessant downpour. Again Priyanka Chopra’s plans, too, went for a topsy turvy as her shooting of ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ faced a long delay due to the wrath of the rains.
At present, Shahid Kapur and Sonam are shooting in Edinburgh, Scotland for Pankaj Kapur’s ‘Mausam’. Shahid plays an Air Force pilot in the film and will be seen sporting a uniform for most part of the film.
Check out some of the snapshots from ‘Mausam’ which got leaked into the cyber world with Shahid sporting shades and a blazer decorated with stripes and medals, and Sonam dressed in a bright red dress and a wig giving a hint of yesteryear beauty Madhuri Dixit.

Sonam Kapoor has a kitty full of promising flicks this year. Her ‘I hate Luv Storys’ is getting rave reviews. The first look of ‘Aisha’ with Abhay Deol is out and the pretty girl, at present, is busy in Scotland with the shoot of Pankaj Kapur’s ‘Mausam’ that co-stars Shahid Kapur. Since Sonam Kapoor is away from home on her birthday, unit of ‘Mausam’ has planned a surprise birthday party for her. Sonam’s Mom Sunita is already with her in Scotland and Papa Anil plans to surprise her by flying down there.
Anil Kapoor, too, planned something special for her birthday and released the first look of Aisha today. Produced by Anil Kapoor Films Company, the movie also marks the debut of younger sister Rhea Kapoor as producer. Directed by Rajshree Ojha, and starring Abhay Deol, Cyrus Sahukar, and Ira Dubey among others, the movie is slated to release on 6th August 2010. It has been shot extensively in Mumbai, Delhi, and Rishikesh.
The story of the movie revolves around Aisha, a girl with a simple diktat – everyone’s business is her business. Aisha will make sure everyone dances to her tune. On the other hand, Arjun believes that Aisha should mind her own business.

Her entry in Bollywood was like a cool and refreshing breeze with the fragrance of innocent beauty in it. The blockbuster hits like ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ (2000) and ‘Gadar – Ek Prem Katha’ (2001) shot Ameesha Patel to fame, but unfortunately the rest was only the way downhill.
Born on June 9th 1976 in Mumbai, India to Amit and Asha Patel, Ameesha turned out to be a brilliant student in Cathedral and John Connon School, and went on to be a graduate in Economics from the Tufts University in Boston, where she won a gold medal.
After initial fame, there came a downslide in Ameesha’s professional and personal front with a series of flops, breakup with Vikram Bhatt and the ugly litigation scandal with her father for mismanaging her accounts.
Ameesha gave an unsuccessful try to revive her sinking career with going for a sexy makeover in ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’. Now, she has all her hopes pinned on Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji’.
On her birthday, all our best wishes for this lovely lady!!!

Politician Amar Singh has come up with a strange idea of making a movie on the Bachchans apparently with no dialogues and with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif playing the lead roles. Hold on! The strangest part of the idea is yet to come. Salman Khan will play the role of Jaya Bachchan and Katrina Kaif will be playing the Big B himself.
When Amar Singh discussed this idea with Kats over the phone and offered her the role, she was taken aback initially but also thrilled at the novelty of it. Katrina says that Singh seemed very sure about the selection of actors and the innovative idea which Katrina feels is going to take the whole tinsel town by surprise. As the movie will have no dialogues, the recordings of phone taps will be incorporated for the background score.
So, courtesy Amar Singh, we are going to see the magic of Salman and Katrina once again as the on-screen pair….
In 2008, Kareena Kapoor had appeared on the cover of ‘People’ magazine with heavy makeup that sparked a lot of negative remarks. This time Kareena has kept it nude and de-glam for the latest issue of People magazine.
“Beauty lies in being simple and natural and this is what I believe in. This is the real me. I believe in being natural and People’s cover has given me this opportunity, ” Kareena told reporters on the sidelines of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards.
“When they came to me with the concept and said they wanted to do the ‘India’s most beautiful’ issue, I was up for it. It is ironical that the international version of the same issue features Julia Roberts on the cover,” she added..
Kareena had also avoided makeup for her roles in ‘Refugee’, ‘Dev’ and ‘Chameli’ and goes on to say, “I think a lot of it depends on roles – if it demands you to be glamorous, you be so.”
