We knew it was coming!! With father Dharmendra a superstar of his era, mother Hema Malini still holding on to the title of ‘Dream Girl’, brothers Sunny, Bobby and Abhay Deol, all churning out Bollywood flicks one after the other and sister Esha Deol struggling to taste success in the tinsel town, how long could Ahana spare herself from being bitten by the acting bug?
So, now Hema’s younger daughter has given her nod and if all goes well, she may well make her debut with Vikramaditya Motwane’s forthcoming flick to be produced by Anurag Kashyap.
Ahana is very close to Vikramaditya and his wife. She’s going through the script and has agreed in principle to doing the film that has an ensemble cast.
Motwane stated, “I do want to have Ahana on board my film. I have given her the script and she is reading it. The reason I chose Ahana is that she has a very interesting face.”
It may be mentioned here that along with many other offers, Ahana had also turned down the offer to enact the lead in one of Dev Anand’s films.
Well, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan does own the sweetest and the prettiest face in Bollywood. So, it did not come as a surprise when grafting expert and Padmashree horticulturist Haji Kaleemullah Khan decided to name his new discovery, a sweeter variety of guava after this actress. The fruit resembles an apple in texture and is sweeter in smell and has more pulp with softer seeds.
“The new variety of guava is very different in taste, smell and look from the traditional and normal varieties grown in the country,” Kaleemullah told adding, “It took almost eight years to develop this unique variety of guava and no chemical fertiliser or pesticide was used in developing the same.”
“All measures were taken to ensure that the product is free from any possible side effect which chemical fertilizer or pesticide may have on fruits. One can get as many as 72 fruits on a 3.7 foot long tree”, Kaleemullah said.
In fact, Kaleemullah used Neem Oil as a pesticide to keep this unique guava free of any chemicals. Kaleemullah is known for growing unique variety of fruits especially mangoes. This Lucknow-based agriculturist has no formal qualification in agriculture but has immense knowledge on the subject. In May last year, the 70-year-old Khan grafted a new variety of mango, which he named after batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
“I am a 7th standard dropout and have been looking after the family business since 1957. My family’s record in this business goes back to 150 years. I am more interested in developing different varieties on a single tree and began the multiple grafting process,” he said.
Kaleemullah won the Padmashree for growing more than 300 varieties of mangoes of different shapes and sizes on one tree. The tree is about 100 years old and he started working on it in 1987 to develop the craft of growing different varieties on one tree.

Abhishek and Katrina Kaif were last seen together almost five years ago in ‘Sarkar’ where the two did not get many scenes together. There after they did not come together in any film and rumors were rift that Salman had asked Katrina not to work with Abhi and Katrina too bore some personal grudges against Junior Bachchan.
However, the two are set to make up for the long gap by appearing in three flicks in a row. First would be Karan Johar produced ‘Dostana 2’ directed by Tarun Mansukhani, next would be untitled romantic comedy directed by Rajnkumar Santoshi and the last one would be the film by Vipul Shah.
Kaif says, “I had done one of my earliest films (Sarkar) with Abhishek. And it was great fun. Somehow subsequent projects didn’t work out. I had decided whenever I work with him again, it would be in an out-and-out romantic subject.”
Rajnkumar Santoshi proved his excellence in comedy with ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani’ starring with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Santoshi’s first comedy film in 1994 ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ became a cult movie.
Says Santoshi, “I’ve worked with Amitji before in Family and Khakee. But I’ve still not worked with Abhishek. I am really looking forward to directing him for the first time.
In him, I see great-untapped potential and a hunger to excel. There’s a very mischievous side to his personality, which has not been tapped in any film. I think Abhishek has great comic potential. When I wrote this script I thought of him immediately.”

There is no denying the fact that Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Ra 1’ happens to be one of the most awaited projects in the year 2011. The movie has seen a lot of efforts from Shahrukh Khan who has been missing from the big screens after My Name Is Khan in February last year. Adding to the success quotient of the film is the fact that it is one of this year’s Diwali releases.
Analyst Komal Nahta of Film Information explains, “The film has kept Shah Rukh on his toes. It’s his most ambitious project so far and one of the most expensive films made in Bollywood. Heavy special effects and constant comparison with Robot have heightened expectations.”
Made under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, this sci-fi film will present SRK as G. One. Touted to be a superhero fantasy, SRK plays a normal guy living in London with his family. A twist in the plot turns him into a superhero.
The movie has been directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by SRK himself. Apart from the superstar, the film has Arjun Rampal, Shahana Goswami and Kareena Kapoor.

Emraan Hashmi has delivered many hits at the box office. Yet, the actor is yet to prove his acting skills as all the roles he has done are of the same type, being that of a man who is interested in women and money, be it ‘Murder’, ‘Crook’, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’ and so on and so forth. The actor is playing once again the same kind of role of in Madhur Bhadarkar’s next film, ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji’.
However, Emraan cant seem to get enough of raving that this one is a Bollywood rom com with a difference since there would be a touch of Bhandarkar realism to it. The film has Ajay Devgn as Naren Ahuja, Emraan Hashmi as Abhay, Omi Vaidya as Milind Kelkar, Tisca Chopra as Pamela, Shruti Haasan as Nikki Narang, Shraddha Das as Gungun Sarkar, and Shazahn Padamsee as June Pinto. Made under the banner of Bhandarkar Entertainment and Wide Frame Pictures, the film is set to release on 28th January, 2011.
Though we are not yet convinced that anything different could apparently come from out Bollywood’s ‘serial kisser’, yet we don’t see any harm in going for the ‘Wait and Watch’ act!!

Bollywood and New Year parties go hand in hand and one can very well associate Bollywood stars ushering in the New Year with grooving, wining and dining all night. Well, there are exceptions too. Talking about hot and sultry, Payal Rohatgi, the actress preferred to stay at home in Ahmedabad for the New Year eve and spend time with her mother.
“I just wanted to spend time with my close ones. Anyways we are socialising throughout the year due to our profession. It felt good to be sane on the first day of the year and not get manipulated to party,” said Payal adding, “Also it felt great visiting the gurudwara. With the hymns being recited, it just was so meaningful. Just wanted to get rid of all the negativity that has been surrounding me since a while now.”

Everyone knows about the ravishing and fabulous dance performance given by Rani Mukherjee on various hits right from her first song Koi Mil Gaya (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) to the title track of Dil Bole Hadippa at the Big Star Entertainment Awards in Mumbai but not all know that the actress had a hard time that the actress had a hard time holding on to her skirt which was very loose.
Rani kept exiting the stage for a few moments and even moved backstage during her final track to check for her skirt. Rani managed to pull off her performance coolly and she did not let the audience feel for once that her skirt was slipping off her waist.
However, when the actress entered the media room for meeting with the press, and her designer came to ask how her performance went, Rani lost her cool and shouted at her designer so much that she was almost in tears.
She told her ‘kitni beizzati hui mujhe stage pe aaj, tumhare skirt ke wajah se! Kya ill-fitting skirt diya!’.
It may be mentioned here that Mukherjee is very particular about what she does. Mostly, her outfits for stage shows are done by Neeta Lulla and Sabyasachi Chakroborty but this time it was a new girl because of shortage of time. Rani also brought in her own choreographer to design her dance moves for the award function as she was not happy with the choreography that was done the choreographer at the Big Star Entertainment Awards.

There is no denying the fact that Malaika Arora Khan’s ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ seemed to be the flavour for all the New Year parties this year and when the ‘Munni’ herself grooves to the number, the sparks can well be imagined. Malaika Arora Khan gave a sizzling performance at Aamby Valley City in Mumbai on all her hit numbers from ‘Chaiya Chaiya’ to ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’. DJ Amandeep added to the atmosphere with his foot-tapping music.
