After Minissha Lamba, Bipasha Basu, and Mallika Sherawat’s brother, the latest name to join the bandwagon of actors detained at the sirport for carrying undeclared goods is Band Baaja Baraat actress Anushka Sharma. Anushka was allegedly carrying undeclared jewelary with her while she was returning from Toronto after attending the IIFA awards.
Dia Mirza was along with her when she was being questioned and she expressed her displeasure with the attitude of the customs department towards the celebrities.
“Considering the news of their detainment leaks out even before anyone outside knows of their arrival proves beyond a doubt that someone in there (at the airport) loves the attention,” she said.
“This time, when I was headed to Toronto, I probed as to why I wasn’t provided a (Customs) certificate. I was told by the Customs officer that they do not evaluate jewellery as they are not equipped to,” she said.
Mirza added, “I was there when Anushka was being questioned and I know for a fact that she was carrying scanned images of every item of jewellery and letter of evaluation from the sponsored jeweller. What she did not have was a Customs certificate, which she tried to avail, but was not given. In fact, the officer at the departure gate told many of us to wear all our jewellery on arrival to avoid questioning.”

Melodious songs, sizzling dances, mersmerizing performances and witty skits- There was nothing which Bollywood left out at IIFA Awards in Toronto. The audience went berseck with screams and applauses for almost seven long hours that started on Saturday and continued till the wee hours of Sunday as about 40,000 fans of India cinema royalties thronged the Rogers Centre at Toronto, Canada, to attend the 12th annual International Indian Film Academy awards -IIFA – 2011 that was held in North America for the first time in the history of the award!
Though the show saw a series of dance performances by stars like Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty, Bipasha Basu, Kanagna Ranaut, Diya Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Bobby Deol, Boman Irani, and Ritesh Deshmukh, the star who stole the show was undoubtedly SRK, the Badshah of Bollywood, who danced whole heartedly despite a fracture in his kneecap.
“Shah Rukh danced through his pain like a true master. He was in agony. But he still rocked the crowds. I’m so proud of him,” expressed the world famous choreographer, Shiamak Dawar, who had to tone down his dance moves due to the knee injury.
Here we present to you a few glimpses of the spectacular performances by various Bollywood stars…………
Model turned actress Mugdha Godse has been missing from the silver screen for quite some time now, but the actress has kept busy playing the judge for a Marathi talent show named Marathi Paul PadtePudhe. Now, the actress will be seen next in the upcoming movie ‘Afra Tafree’ where she stars alongside Govinda and Suneil Shetty. Mugdha has always been a big fan of Govinda and is flying high on getting a chance to work with him. She is also seen telling her close friends that she wants Govinda become her dance teacher.
Well, the admiration here seems to be mutual because Govinda also praised Mugdha Godse after watching the some episodes of her Marathi show. Again, the actress has also requested her co-star Suneil Shetty to be her fitness guru and give her some tips to stay in shape during the hectic shooting schedule of the film. Not to mention here that her request has duly and happily been accepted by the Bollywood hunk!!

Karan Johar has stalled the production plans for his much talked about ‘Dostana 2’ as he is not happy with the second half of the script. After many attempts to rewrite the script, Tarun has finally given up on it and since Tarun has a commitment to do a film with Karna Johar Productions, he has been offered by Karan to write up a script keeping SRK and Priyanka Chopra in mind. Tarun has already directed some of thr scenes for SRK’s home production ‘Ra.One’.
Shahrukh and Piggie Chops showed awesome chemistry together in ‘Don’ and will also be seen together once again in ‘Don 2’. If the things fall into place, the two will weave the magic for the third time on the screen. It is said that the suggestion of casting SRK and Priyanka together came from King Khan himself.

There is no denying the fact that Jacqueline Fernandez’s career got going and she became a hot property in the tinsel town only after the Bhatts presented her in an all new and sizzling look in their forthcoming “murder 2’. So, it was but obvious that they were upset when the Srilankan beauty chose to fly off to London for the shoot of Sajid Nadiawala’s ‘Housefull 2’ rather than staying back for the promotions of ‘Murder 2’.
Reports also have it that Mahesh Bhatt had tried to call up Sajid in order to request him for allowing Jacqueline fly down to Mumbai for the promotional events of ‘Murder 2’ but Sajid was just unavailable.
An upset Mahesh stated, “They have capitalised on her casting in Murder 2 since she has only now become hot property. Hereafter, I will ensure that I have a legal bound contract with every actor that they have to be actively involved in the promotion of the film.”

Vivek Oberoi’s acting skills may not have impressed many but his efforts and contribution in the field of health, education and disaster relief have been recognized and he features as the youngest person and the only Bollywood actor in the prestigious Forbes Asian Heroes of Philanthropy list. The list brings together Asia-Pacific’s respected people who have contributed notably towards social causes. Four philanthropists were picked from each of the 12 markets in the region, making it a total of 48 being celebrated this year and Vivek is one of the four Indians, other being Shiv Nadar of HCL Technologies, Azim Premji of Wipro and Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao of GMR Group.
Vivek Oberoi has long been associated with various foundations and causes and has reportedly donated $ 3 million to date and helped raise $ 25 million to support charitable institutions dedicated towards social causes.

Preity Zinta’s stint with IPL did not give her much success. Also her debut on smaller screen as the host for ‘Gusiness World Records- Ab India Todega’ did not create much ripples. Now, she has something to be excited about- all thanks to the pregnant Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Since Ash will no longer be able to shoot for Raj Kumar Santoshi’s rom-com Ladies and Gentlemen starring Abhishek Bachchan in the lead, Preity has been asked to step into the role. Abhishek plays a casanova in the flick and Preity’s character finally evokes true love in him.
“The fact that Aishwarya and Abhishek are going to be parents is far more important than anything to do with my film. The nature of the part that she was playing no longer suits her,” Raj Kumar Santoshi said.
However, Santoshi still wants Ash for another project of his and says, “It’s a project that I’ve written specially for her. The role cannot be played by anyone else. I will start it as soon as she is ready.”

The 12th International Indian Film Academy Awards 2011 in Toronto on Sunday celebrated the glory of Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’ with the movie bagging in six prestigious awards including best film and female debut for actor Sonakshi Sinha. However, the best director award was given to Karan Johar and the Best Male performance was given to SRK for the same film. The best choreography award was undoubtedly bagged in by Malaika Arora Khan’s ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’.
Boman Irani and Riteish Deshmukh were at their hilarious best as the host for the event. There were power packed performances by actress Kangana Ranaut, Bobby Deol, Ranvir Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. Mallika Sherawat grooved in with ‘Arabian Nights’.
It may be mentioned here that IIFA, which is ranked as high as Oscars for Indian cinema, has been held in cities including Dubai, Bangkok, Colombo, Singapore, Macau and Johannesburg but never in India.

Vidya balan may not be the most glamorous actress in the tinsel town but she sure is one of the most talented and promising actress in our industry. So, it did not come as a surprise when super star Kamal Hassna approached her for ‘Vishwaroopam’ which is not only being made in three languages (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) but is also one of the costliest Indian film ever made. Kamal is penning the screenplay, lyrics and dialogues of the movie and the film also stars Sonakshi Sinha in a pivotal role.
Unfortunately, despite being very keen to work opposite Kamal Hassan, Vidya had to refuse the offer as she has a packed schedule for her two films which are lined up for release this year, ‘Dirty Picture’ and ‘Kahaani’.
This was unfortunate not only for Vidya and Kamal but also for all movie lovers as the two would have made a great pair on screen together.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s pregnancy may have brought in a wave of happiness in the Bachchan family but it has surely put her producers in a fix, specially Madhur Bhandarkar who has shot a considerable portion of his forthcoming ‘Heroine’ but still needs at least six months more to complete the film.
However, Ash is due in November this year and has allotted just 65 days to Madhur to complete his film which is just not possible for the director. Also, Ash needs to look sexy and in perfect shape for this film, especially in some scenes. In one scene, the heroine needs to be under a waterfall and in yet another one she has to smoke cigarettes which is not possible for the expectant actress.
As such, there have been serious discussions between Madhur, Ash and Ronnie Screwvala lately as to whether they should defer the film or shelve it altogether. Whatever may be their decision, one thing is for sure that one of the most promising films of this year seems to be suffering a doomed fate now!!

Yashraj films have minted gold with its Dhoom and its sequel. Now, they have come out with ‘Dhoom 3’ and they had announced it long back that Aamir Khan would be playing the negative character this time escaping from inspector Jai (Abhishek Bachchan) and his sidekick Ali (Uday Chopra).
However, filmi pundits had been guessing for long as to who will play the leading lady in the film. Guesses were being made that Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone have been approached for the role. Putting all the actresses behind in the race, Katrina Kaif has finally bagged in the role. Going by the strict criteria Yash Raj Films puts forth for its heroines, Kats will have to work hard to tone her physique as she will also have to don a bikini for the film.
With this, Katrina Kaif strengthens her foothold in the Yash Raj banner. She gave a hit with them in ‘New York’ and has just completed the shoot for ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’. She is currently shooting for Ek Tha Tiger and has yet another an untitled YRF film with Shahrukh Khan. ‘Dhoom 3’ just happens to be another addition to this list.
