Airtel Delhi Half Marathon kicked started on Sunday morning at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Bipasha Basu, Rajan Mittal, Rakesh Mittal, and others flagged off the marathon at 7.10am. Not to mention here that many runners halted to get their pictures clicked with SRK and Bipasha in the backdrop. SRK kept requesting them,
The usual faces, Rahul Bose, Anil Ambani, Gul Panag, and of course, Siddhartha Mallya, were all there, running for causes of their choice. After the marathon got over, Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, SRK and Bipasha handed over the winner’s prize to Ethiopian Lelisa Desisa and Kenyan Lucy Kabuu, who won the men’s and women’s overall titles.

Much is being anticipated and expected from the remake of the superhit film ‘Agneepath’. The original Agneepath was made in 1990 under the direction of Mukul Anand and starred Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, and Rohini Hattangadi, with Danny Dengzongpa as the villain. It was produced by Yash Johar.
The remake of the film is being directed by Karan Johar’s former assistant Karan Malhotra. It will reportedly be radically different from the original film. But the tagline-”Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, poora naam, baap ka naam Deenanath Chauhan, gaon Mandwa.” remains the same.
Hrithik Roshan has stepped into the shoes of Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra will play his love interest. The character played by Mithun Chakraborty has been totally done away with in the remake. The role of the villain Kanch Cheena played by Danny in the role will now be done by Sanjay Dutt. Madhur Bhandarkar’s ambitious project ‘Heroine’ has started its shoot finally on November 26 overcoming all hurdles and problems with cast and so. The movie now stars Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda and Shabana Goswami in the main roles.
After Aishwarya Rai walked out of the project due to her pregnancy, Madhur took Kareena in the lead and after his first day of shoot, he tweeted, “Today I start shooting for my next project, Heroine. Am I excited, nervous or ecstatic? Actually, I am very calm because movie making is one thing that comes very naturally to me. I am happy for sure, as always, to be on the next project and work after months of brainstorming. But my day has begun with a silent prayer for the victims of 26/11.”
“Heroine is a very contemporary subject of today’s time. It has different premises and different strata that I am going to deal with here. This movie, like all my other movies, is a mix of facts and fiction,” added Bhandarkar.

Both ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ and ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ took the entire nation by rage last year and this year singer and composer Daler Mehndi has yet again created buzz with his spoof song ‘ Sheila Ho Ya Munni’ which has become a rage online. The song is choreographed by Raka and its video is directed by Vikas Gulati.
Talking about this song and its making, Daler Mehndi said, “Why can’t I make a song like this? People were singing for Sheila and Munni, I just put the two of them together. The song talks about the want to kiss, but there’s no kissing in it. In fact, even Mika (Mehndi’s brother, and singer) had messaged me asking what kind of a song I’ve come out with. I told him, ‘Main toh chummi lene ki baat kar raha hoon, tumne toh chummi le li hai’.”
Mehndi is also ready with this next studio album, Tunak Tunak Tumba, after a gap of five long years. “There’s a song each for every mindset. I’ve even delved in Haryanvi this time, so from Sufi to Mild Rock, from Bhangra to Raggae, to even classical, there is a song for everybody.”
After ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ Freida Pinto plays the role of an Indian girl once again in the British director Michael Winterbottom’s film Trishna and the director finds Freida suiting the role perfectly. “I think Freida was the perfect choice for the protagonist and she played her role to the fullest in the movie,” he said.
Trishna is a modern adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s famous novel ‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles’ and the movie is set in Rajasthan. The movie relates the story of a village girl Trishna (Pinto) who falls in love with a rich man but the class divide becomes too big for the lovers to overcome. Actor Riz Ahmed plays the role of a wealthy young British businessman Jay Singh in the movie opposite Pinto.
Freida also has some passionate scenes with Riz Ahmed in the movie, but she is completely comfortable enacting these scenes. “I do not take up anything which will embarrass me. The bold scenes were part of the script and I had no problem,” Freida said.
“For me this is my second Indian film. It doesn’t matter who makes the film, it is Indian in its essence, as 50 per cent of the dialogues are in Marwari and Hindi,” Pinto added.
Actor Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma are keeping their fingers crossed for the fate of their next project, ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ and were seen bonding well at the music launch of the same.
The movie has showcased Ranveer’s writing and rapping talents as Ranveer has not only contributed to the script but has also rapped a small portion of a song in the film. Rumors also have it that Ranveer haswritten a script of a movie that he would like to direct sometime next year.
“Yes, I want to do everything. Direct, write, act, produce… If it’s not too much for me, I may just do it all,” he said confidently adding, “But I have butterflies in my stomach, and won’t rest still till the verdict is out,” he added.

Pakistani actress Veena Malik may have garnered negative publicity and criticism for her outrageous behaviour and alleged closeness with Ashmit Patel during her stay in Big Boss 4, but the show definitely kick started her career in Bollywood. The 42nd Indian International Film Festival saw actress Madhuri Dixit open the Indian Panorama section and the short films center looking gorgeous in a lime green knee-length dress and heels,
“I am very honoured to be here. I thank the Indian and Goa govt for inviting me. Goa is a wonderful place and it is a great idea to hold IFFI here. People come here to exchange ideas and put the same life into different perspectives. It’s filmmakers like you who broaden our horizon as actors, make us learn and help us grow. It helps me give something new when I perform the next time,” she said.
“Goa is such a sunny place. I have always cherished my visit here. This is my third visit to the place with my family and I can say ‘Dekha hai teesri baar, Goa ke aankhon mein pyar’ -although it sounds very filmy!” she added.
The event then saw the screening of Makarand Brahme’s non-feature Hindi film “Adwait Sangeet” and Santhosh Sivan’s Malayalam feature film “Urumi”. The actress also felicitated jury members behind the selection of the films. The inauguration ceremony also featured actor Jackie Shroff and the event’s Director, Shankar Mohan and the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Ambika Soni.
Although Kareena Kapoor has stepped in Aishwarya Rai’s shoes in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’, there are hurdles yet to be crosses before the project starts running smoothly. Apparently, Kareena is not happy about romancing Arunoday Singh in the movie and chose to do those romantic scenes with Randeep Hooda instead. As such, Bhadarkar had to replace Anuroday with Randeep Hooda.
However, Bhandarkar maintains that the change in the cast was not because of Kareena’s tantrums but because the script has undergone a slight change and now Randeep Hooda suits the said role better than Arunoday.
Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor has emerged as the Sexiest Asian Woman for 2011, according to a survey conducted by Eastern Eye.
Eastern Eye showbiz editor Asjad Nazir said: “Although the list contained pop stars, TV personalities, models and film stars from around the world, the voting quite comprehensively showed that Kareena and Katrina have put a distance between themselves and the rest of the contenders in terms of popularity.”
There is no denying the fact that Sonakshi Sinha is perhaps the most beautiful and promising newcomer in our tinsel town. In her debut flick, she was seen in a village girl avatar wearing a saree. In all her forthcoming flicks like ‘Joker’, ‘Dabangg 2’ and ‘Lootera’ also she will be draping a saree. However, she puts on a glamorous western avatar in her photo shoot for the 4th anniversary of men’s fashion magazine FHM in Mumbai.
She opted for a red hot dress at the event for the unveiling of the issue. “I think it is good to look different in every photo shoot or a film. I think all my filmmakers are making me wear saris so I think it’s good that in photo shoots I am seen in western outfits. As an actor, this change is also important. I try and mix it up,” Sonakshi said at the unveiling of the FHM magazine cover.
“I am very proud of my ‘desiness’ and I would have to agree for now because those are the type of roles that I have been doing. Later on, there will be a lot of scope for change,” she added.

Though ‘Gyarah Chalis Ki Last Local’ did not rake moolah at the box office, Abhay Deol’s performance in the same did get critical accolades. However, the makers have replaced Vivek Oberoi with Abhay in their next which is titled ‘Gyarah Chalis Ki Last Metro’. Unlike the original, this one will be shot in Delhi and guesses are on as to who will be the female lead in the flick. Rumours are rife that either Jacqueline or Bipasha will be cast for the role.
The makers are keen to reflect all the flavours of Delhi in the flick, so much so that they have decided to shoot one of the crucial scenes of the movie inside Qutub Minar. If everything falls in place, Amit Chandrra will have the credit of making the first ever film to ever capture the beautiful monument. Amit is in talks with higher authorities in Delhi as they plan to open gates to Qutub Minar.
