Vidya Balan has created her own space in Bollywood by giving convincing and some very memorable performances so far. After successfully playing the lead in female oriented films like ‘Pa’, ‘No one killed Jessica’ and now, ‘ The Dirty Picture’, the actress is ready yet again with another female eccentric film ‘Kahaani’ which is set for March 2012 release. The film is based on the heart wrenching story of a pregnant woman in search of her husband which takes her all the way from Kolkata to London. The film is directed and co-produced by Sujoy Ghosh and stars Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi in the lead roles.

Well, the queen of item numbers with songs like ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’, ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Chikni Chameli’ to her credit will not be seen gyrating to any hot number on any New Year party. While other actresses do not miss this opportunity of filling in their pockets by accepting huge sums of money for New Year performances, Kaif prefers to stay with family on this occasion.
Katrina Kaif explains that it’s only during New Years and Christmas that her whole family comes together and she would trade in this opportunity of a family reunion with 31st night performance only if the amount offered to her for it is as huge as the amount of working in two movies or so that she can buy another house for herself in London; and she says she has not received any such luring offer yet.

Actress Priyanka chopra was spotted gracing the Brahma Kumari’s 75th year celebrations at Sion, Mumbai. She looked gorgeous as ever in a simple Indian ethnic suit which suited the occasion. Also present was yesteryear actress Poonam Dhillon.

Bollywood hunk Salman Khan turned 46 this year on 27th December and to celebrate the occasion, he held a bash at his Panvel farmhouse with his his parents, brothers, sisters and close friends Sajid Nadiadwala, Bhushan Kumar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Shirish Kunder, Govinda, Nikhil Dwivedi and many more. the list goes on….
Among the invitees, was actor Nikhil Dwivedi and tweeting about the party, he said, “Salman Khan’s party was One of the warmest and coolest party that I ve been to in a long time.. & to see Govinda dance on the floor.. Magic!”
Actress Sneha Ullal, who was Salman Khan’s find as Aishwarya’s look alike and who debuted opposite Salman Khan in the film ‘Lucky: No Time For Love’ was also invited to the party but she couldn’t make it. However, she posted a pic of Salman Khan’s cute birthday cake on Twitter. The cake features The cake has a shirtless man, pulling weights and of course, many goodies of Salman Khan’s Being Human charity.

Salman Khan’s Celebrity Cricket League spices it up for the oncoming year with the league’s official calendar titled Girls of CCL-II. The calendar was unveiled in Hyderabad by Salman at the launch of the celebrity cricket league’s second season. Kangna Ranaut, Sonakshi Sinha and Genelia D’Souza represent the Mumbai Heroes team. Shriya Saran, Kajal Agarwal, Lakshmi Rai, Sameera Reddy, Richa, Deeksha, Andrita Ray and Madhuri Bhattacharya represent the teams Chennai Rhinos, Telugu Warriors, Karnataka Bulldozers and Kerala Strikers. Riya and Raima Sen are brand ambassadors of Bengal Tigers. The calendar was shot in Goa, Mumbai and at a resort near Golconda in Hyderabad.
The photos were shot by lensman Venkat Ram with all the girls sporting different vibrant colors. “Since the girls represent their respective regions they have been dressed in the colour palette of the region,” said Venkat.

The start of the year 2011 was a disaster for Priyanka Chopra whose ambitious project ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ bombed at the box-office. However, the year seems to be ending on a happy note for her as her ‘Don 2’ seems to have set the cash registers ringing at the box office within a span of a few days. Well! Well! Mallika Sherawat’s off and on trips to Hollywood have not gone without results. The actress gets the honor of being shot for the new addition of the world’s first 3D magazine, WMB (World’s Most Beautiful).
The shoot was done by the ace lens man Nick Saglimbeni amidst scorching heat of a desert. Attired in flannels and denim shorts, Mallika Sherawat is seen as a damsel whose car has broken down in the middle of a desert and who tries to hitchhike by holding the placard ‘Hollywood or Bust’. Mallika’s make-up was done by Gaby Ramos, hairstyling by Gio Campora, and Styling by Sarah Ellis. To keep the shot to perfection and to prevent her tummy from bulging, Mallika was not even allowed to drink water between the shoot although it was seething hot in the desert location.

This definitely was a Salman Khan year as twoof his flicks ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Ready’ made in ‘Dabangg’ style made it big this year. The movie grossed Rs. 22 crores, with power packed performances from Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor under the direction of Atul Agnihotri. Salman’s signature dialogue – “Mujh par ek ehsaan karna ki mujh par koi ehsaan na karna” – once again struck a chord with fans.

Ra. One
One of the most awaited, most ambitious and high budgeted films of 2011. Ra. One turned out to churn profits for SRK’s production house. Though the film failed to impress the critics, exaggerated promotion, World class VFX, amazing graphics, innovative marketing, tie-ups with multiple brands and Shah Rukh Khan as the superhero helped the film rake moolah at the box-office.

Ready
Another one from Salman Khan, this was yet again a comedy under the direction of Aneez Bazmee. The film had Salman Khan and Asin Thottumkal in the lead and had some picturesque scenes from the exotic locales of Thailand.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
A tight script based on three bachelors dealing with their friendship and romance and some pwer packed performances from the lead cast of Hrtihik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, with Kalki Koechlin and Katrina Kaif as their love interests made the film a big hit of this year. The songs of the film held on to the top positions at almost all the music stations for a considerable span this year.

The Dirty Picture
Based on the life of the South siren Silk Smitha, this controversial film was very much in news even before it hit the screens, courtesy Vidya Balan’s sensuous curvy looks in the promos of the film. Vidya Balan swept both the classes and the masses off their feet with her bold avatar in Ekta Kapoor’s “The Dirty Picture”.

When all the world is wishing Merry Christmas to all their friends and well-wishers, how could Bollywood’s self-professed hot lady Poonam Pandey stay behind. So, the actress has once again done what she is best at, stripping of course (Yawn!).

Though the romance depicted in the flick was impressive, the film bombed because of its boring length, repetition of scenes and weak plot.

This thriller and Black comedy released on 18 February 2011, was an ambitious project for Priyanka Chopra. This big budgeted movie directed by ace director Vishal Bhardwaj had a strong storyline and impressive cast comprising of John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan, Anu Kapoor, and Vivaan Shah along with Priyanka Chopra, of course. However, the movie failed to make it big.

Again a February release, this family drama was made under the direction of Nikhil Advani and starred Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma. The plot was not a new one with the son Akshay Kumar wanting to make a career in cricket but his father does not want that his son play for England. This was a big budget movie with impressive performances from the actors and yet it failed to impress in the audience in general.

The highlight of the film was its cast comprising of Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. This film, based on political and social issues, was directed by Prakash Jha and was released on12 August 2011. The movie was based on the burning issue of reservation for SC/ST.

With the strong cast of Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Kangna Ranaut, this comedy made under the banner of Sanjay Dutt Productions surprised everyone when it failed at the box office. Directed by the master of comic genre, David Dhawan, the film had a massive budget and seemed impressive when the promos were released. However, it was a major flop of 2011.
