The success of ‘The Dirty Picture’ has turned out to be a major milestone in actress Vidya Balan’s career. Suddenly, the actress seems to be everywhere these days. She is working in a number of prestigious projects, she is doing an item number, she is being booked for award functions and stage performances and so on and so forth. The latest addition to this list is that she has been roped in as the brand ambassador of Victoria’s Indian Film Festival to be held in Melbourne this year.
“I am delighted to be named as the brand ambassador for the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne. I love the format of the festival and the wide range of films screened,” Vidya said adding, “It not only showcases the best of Indian cinema but also provides a platform for young, upcoming film makers through its short film competition. When I was in Melbourne, I was smitten by the city and its love for films and its multi-cultural spirit. I am sure the festival will contribute greatly to add to that spirit.”
The 10-day festival will take place in mid-2012 and showcase the versatility and potentials of the Indian film industry.
“The festival complements a range of initiatives to develop ties between the Victorian and Indian film industries, including a Victoria/India Co-production Initiative which will see ten Victorians travel to FICCI Frames in Mumbai in March,” Louise Asher, minister for innovation, services and small business, said adding, “The initiative will also support up to three Victorian companies to develop a feature film, television or digital media project as a joint venture with a production entity based in India.”

Item numbers have become the latest rage among Bollywood beauties. After Katrina Kaif giving a run for money to all item girls with her sensuous moves as Sheila and Chikni Chameli, the latest Bollywood lady to join the item girl bandwagon is Kareena Kapoor. Bebo has already shown her moves with ‘Chammak Challo’ and ‘Dil Mera Muft Ka’, but this will be the first time she will be doing a pure item number for forthcoming ‘Dabangg 2’.
Where Malaika Arora took the fans off their feet with her ‘Munni’ act, Kareena would be following the same line, this time on a number to be composed by either Lalit Pandit or Sajid-Wajid. The first schedule of Dabangg 2 begins on March 9.

Apparently, Vidya has been chosen to play the lead role of Mehrunissa in his film driving other contestants like Katrina Kaif out of the race. The film will be made by DAR Motion Pictures and Vidya will start the shoot towards the end of the year when she completes her shoot for Rajkumar Gupta’s Ghanchakkar. Since Sudhir and producer Nikhil Advani are very keen to have Vidya on board to play Mehrunissa, they are willing to wait it out.
Vidya will be playing Mehrunissa in two different time zones, at the age of 20 and again at the age of 62. Vidya will share screen space with Big B and Rishi Kapoor and since senior Bachchan has frequently compared Vidya to Waheeda Rehman, her older role will be based on Waheedaji herself. Vidya will apparently be using some clever makeup and prosthetics to look convincing opposite Big B and Rishi Kapoor.
Though luck has not been much on Shahid Kapoor’s side, there are very few who would doubt on the actor’s potentials. Post his breakup with Kareena Kapoor, Shahid is following the mantra of ‘Work Hard and Party Harder’ to the core.
The actor was in Goa on his birthday and as he turned 31 this year, he did not mind partying just too wild as the photographs put online by the celebrity photographer Atul Kasbekar make it all clear.

Housefull 2 is not only all masala and comedy with a host of actors and actresses but it also has the right mix of oomph and glamour with a full on item song picturized on the queen of item numbers, Malaika Arora Khan.
The sensuous lady, who rocked the nation as Munni in ‘Dabangg’ will take the avatar of a modern day anarkali in the song which is titled ‘Anarkali Disco Chali’ and is choreographed by Farah Khan. The full song promo shows Malaika in four different looks with she changing over to short skimpy dresses from her traditional anarkali look.
The song also has four funny charactersalong with Malaika namely Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmukh, John Abraham and Shreyas Talpade, and two cool papas (Mithun Chakraborty and Boman Irani).
On being compared with the Munni song, Malaika says, “Munni is iconic, so I wouldn’t like to draw any comparisons and would request others to do the same. But, at the same time, Anarkali Disco Chali is Kick A**.”
There is no denying the fact that actress Chitrangada Singh, who stepped into hardcore commercial cinema with ‘Desi Boyz’ with much success, is quite fit and well in shape. As such, she has been chosen aptly by Puma as their brand ambassador and now, the 35-year-old will endorse the brand’s various product range along with their latest running and fitness campaign called Move Faas, which can be seen across Puma stores in India.
“Fitness is gaining popularity in the country and Puma’s Faastest Indianwill take it to the people in the country in their unique, uber cool style,” Chitrangada said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Malaika Arora recently broke silence over the Saif Ali Khan assault incident and said in a statement: “I am glad that Saif finally came out with his statement. It was really unfortunate that something like that happened that night… By and large FIR was filed against the men but we’ll do whatever will be required of us.”

Boman Irani has made his critics and fans swear by his acting skills. Now, his son, Kayoze, is all set to debut in Bollywood with Karan Johar’s next project titled ‘Student of the Year’. Kayoze got his brush with film making as an assistant director in the recently released, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
“Ok… that’s Kayoze Irani @kayoze… Boman Irani’s super talented son who we are introducing in SOTY,” Karan Johar tweeted recently.
The film will also act as a launching pad for quite a few debutants including Alia Bhatt, daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, son of director David Dhawan and newcomer Siddharth Malhotra.
Though Kayoze’s exact role in the movie is yet undisclosed, it is knwon that the movie will be a romantic comedy produced by Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Johar’s Dharma Productions.
Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has landed into troubled waters. The actor got into a scuffle with South African NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma, who is also the director general and CEO of the Trade, Industry & Investments of South Africa, and was also arrested Wednesday along with his teo friends, Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi. He was charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly assaulting Sharma in the Taj Mahal Hotel around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Saif has now been released on bail and complains that his friends, including girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, were abused and he was assaulted.
“There was an ugly incident last night (Tuesday) where my friends and the ladies with us were abused and I was assaulted. I was hit and I defended myself,” Saif said in a statement.
Now, Saif has also filed a complaint and says, “I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law abiding citizen. I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done.”
“I have seen the interviews given on TV and they look like decent people and I cannot believe that the same people were so aggressive the night before and the lies that they are saying about me with such straight faces. I think they have the CCTV footage in the restaurant that will prove everything.
I hope the media is able to remain impartial while the matter is being decided. I don`t think any gentleman would have behaved differently,” he added.
It has been a long three month wait and Beti B finally gets a name. Abhishek Bachchan had recently that they had chosen a name for their daughter and were waiting for Amitabh Bachchan to be back from the Seven Hills hospital before they could announce the name.
Abhishek stated, “We’ve got a name, and I’ll announce it very soon, but in terms of releasing a photograph you know I… if people see her in everyday life that’s fine by me, but I just think releasing the photograph is a very pompous thing to do. We don’t believe in any ceremony in terms of naamkaran.”
However, Big B may not get the privilege of revealing his granddaughter’s name to the world or so, it seems because author Shobhaa De has revealed Beti B’s name on Twitter.
Shobhaa De tweeted, “Beti B to be named Abhilasha? That’s a stroke of genius. Well done,parents. Abhi and Ash. Truly inspired, if true.”
