Superstar Shahrukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan has been known to shy away from cameras though she has been associated with the entertainment world sharing the background scene. She designed SRK’s costumes for the movie ‘Baazigar’, was the producer for ‘Main Hoon Na’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’. But this is the first time she will be facing the camera and that for a commercial with hubby King Khan.
The duo will be seen together in a commercial for a rather popular furnishing house to be shot by Sunhil Sippy (director of ‘Snip’) and slated to be filmed in Mumbai shortly. The other team members will be Sunhil’s friends Makarand Deshpande and Saurabh Shukla.
Though Gauri has had a lot of offers for commercials earlier but things never seemed to work out. This would be her first start and with this, the SRK-Gauri team would give competition to other star couples who rule the endorsement world these days, Abhishek and Aishwarya, Saif and Bebo… to name a few…..
Their highly awaited flick together ‘Raavan’ may have been a disaster at the box-office, but the couple is still in vogue and very much into each other’s company. He may not have a series of hits to his credit, he may still be struggling to come out of the shadows of his superstar father, he may still be deemed as not so popular as his better half and popular wife, but he definitely has some qualities which make him stand out and carve a niche of his own in the tinsel town.
Talking about Abhishek Bachchan, the actor has some amazing qualities and a wonderful sense of professionalism, which has kept him going. Recently, when he suffered a sprain during the filming of Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maro Dum’, he was advised complete bed rest for a day or two. However, the actor showed up on the dot of the hour for the shoot of the famed soap commercial which he was slated to shoot with wifey Ash.
Now, although his ‘Raavan’ bombed at the box-office, he has been signed by Raj Kumar Santoshi for his forthcoming flick to be produced by a reputed film corporation for a rocking amount of 7 crore! The film is supposed to star Big B and Aishwarya to besides Abhi.
The Bachchans may be busy all the way, but the family sure knows how to value and strengthen their bonding. Of late, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have had little time to spend with each other. It has been quite a long time they had some quality time together for their short anniversary holiday. Then Abhi got busy with the shooting of Abhinay Deo’s ‘Game’ in Greece, while Aishwarya was in India for a stint of ‘Robot’. Then Ash flew to Paris to honor Gustavo Kuerten (retired former World No.1 Brazilian tennis player) for his work with disadvantaged children. She also bonded with Steffi Graf and Mary Pierce at the charity dinner that followed.
So, missing her husband badly, Aishwarya asked her driver to take her to Abhishek as soon as she landed in Mumbai on Thursday. This was for the first time Ash took a liberty to intrude her husband while he was working at the Reliance Web World doing out-of-town press interviews. She not only met him, she also joined impromptu to talk to their fans on radio in Jaipur and Ahmedabad.
Both Abhishek and Aishwarya will be seen together in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’, where Abhi plays the character of an abductor named Veera. He is busy with the promotion of the film these days. Recently, he toured the city with six dancers dressed as characters in one of the song from the movie and he greeted fans from an open bus. He also threw goodies like ‘Raavan’ key chains and T-shirts to his fans.

Despite controversies and boycotts, the 11th edition of the IIFA Weekend kick started in Sri Lanka with the host country rolling out the red carpet for glamorous Bollywood actors. The ceremony has been boycotted by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce as a mark of protest against the alleged mistreatment of the Tamils in the country. Bollywood biggies like the Bachchans and SRK are also giving the extravaganza a miss. While Big B is currently shooting in Gujarat, Abhishek is in Istanbul for a film shoot and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai is in Paris to promote a brand. SRK is busy with the post production details of his forthcoming ‘Ra 1’.
Stars such a Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha, Lara, Neha, Kangana, Dia, Jacqueline, Riya, Sophie and many more were given a warm welcome by the Lankan fans as they arrived at the Bandarnaike International Airport.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has definitely many roles to play and the actress does need applauds for the ease with which she steps into each role perfectly. Be it being the Miss World, a versatile actress or a dedicated bahu- she does it all with same poise and perfection. Recently, she displayed her culinary skills in Greece when she cooked not only for hubby Abhishek but for the entire cast of the film ‘Game’ which included Kangna Ranaut, Jimmy Shergill, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Shahana Goswami, Gauhar Khan and the film’s co-producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.
Recalling the time, Abhishek said to a news daily, “Whenever we had spare time, we did a little cooking for everyone. Apart, of course, from cycling, taking walks and playing volleyball on the beach.”
Talking about the film shooting experience, Abhishek said, “Shooting in Samos was an experience in itself, especially the action sequences, as we had all modes of water transport being used.”
Seems marriage is working out just perfectly for Junior Bachchan!
Much had been said about Deepika Padukone stealing away the show from the former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with her traditional Indian look. Now, Ash has taken up the opportunity to silence her critics and she appeared in a true Indian flavour as the trailer of Mani Ratnam’s bilingual Raavan/Raavanan was screened to the media at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. The event was attended by the lead stars of the movie, Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai who looked stunningly beautiful in her black saree.
Suhasini Mani Ratnam, the film’s co-producer and dialogue writer for the Tamil version, said that the film would help “Us understand the grey parts that all of us have in us…None of us is completely white or black”. She also praised A R Rahman for his work and said, “In fact, the music accentuated picture. Songs have a great role to play. They do take the plot forward.”
Ash was also there for the premiere of Oliver Stone’s latest flick, ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’, starring Hollywood big shots Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, Charlie Sheen, Michael Douglas and Susan Sarandon on Friday and she wore a stunning pink Gucci gown for the occasion.
Cannes Film Festival in French Riviera had every essence of Bollywood on Wednesday as pretty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan impressed everyone with her style and poise as she attended the screening of Ridley Scott`s ‘Robin Hood’ on the opening day of the 12-day run of the 63rd edition of the festival which will run through May 23.
Aishwarya walked down the red carpet hand-in-hand with Eva Longoria Parker (Desperate Housewives) and blew gentle kisses in all directions and waved royally. She blended well with Parker.
Ash was there as a representative of L`Oreal and looked stunning in her flowing off-shoulder gown and a puff with minimal, delicate jewellery and a silver clutch. The 36-year-old Indian actress wore a violet blue fully embroidered tulle and mousseline gown from Elie Saab. The Bachchan Bahu will also be promoting her film ‘Raavan’ along with her star husband Abhishek.
Perhaps the most looked upon couple in the tinsel town, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan celebrated their third anniversary this Tuesday and much in style, the two have flown to an undisclosed location in US to celebrate their anniversary and will be back by 24th April to witness the release of their much awaited ‘Raavan’. The first look of the movie was released just two days ago. The film, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam, is a modern day version of the epic Ramayana and its musical chords have been struck by Oscar-winning maestro AR Rahman.
Abhishek posted on his Twitter account, “…It’s Houdini time again. Have managed to abduct the wife. See you all soon.”
On their first anniversary, Abhishek was busy shooting in Miami for “Dostana”, but wife Aishwarya joined him there. Again, last year, both of them took out time for a week-long vacation while they were shooting for ‘Raavan’.
When we talk about happily married celebrity couples, the couple which leads them all has always been Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, but this time the junior Bachchan couple defeats them by topping the rank as the most popular and favorite Indian celebrity couple in a poll conducted on the occasion of Valentine days by Shaadi.com where more than 3.6 lakh visitors made their choice over the website.
Abhi-Ash won with 32 percent votes followed by SRK and Gauri Khan who bagged in 29 percent votes. Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan secured the third rank. Though Aamir is quite popular as an actor, his fans do not seem to have a very high opinion about his family life as Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao achieved fourth rank in the competition with 9 percent votes.
It may be mentioned here that Abhi-Ash had already won the title of ‘Inspiring love story’ in the Oprah Winfrey show.
“Aishwarya has come back from the shoot in pain and distress. Doctors called, investigation done and medication registered to settle issues down, but it persists, ” Amitabh Bachchan, posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com as the entire Bachchan family was worried about their bahu Aishwarya being down with fever as she returned home after the shoot of Vipul Shah’s “Action Replay” in Manori in northern Mumbai.
Explaining the condition of his daughter-in-law, the Big B wrote: “There is high fever and an infection in the throat, cannot talk, cannot swallow. Sad and so concerned to see her in such a condition. Abhishek has been summoned from his shoot as Jaya and I attend to her.”
Because of her illness, Ash could not attend the India Today Woman Summit and husband Abhishek accepted the award on her behalf.
Later Big B wrote of her condition getting better as, “The swelling inside the mouth below the tonsil is not tonsillitis as was presumed. It is something else and that is worrying. When you cannot swallow water even, it is more worrying. But today the antibiotics seem to be working and there is some relief. The infection abates. The rash and swelling on the face reduces. She has been able to take in some liquids, but her speech is still laboured.”
The premiere of both ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘Rann’ was held on Jaunary 28th. Vidya Balan walked in hand-in-hand with Arshad Warsi at the premiere. They created a picture perfect pair as Vidya dazzled in a rust colored saree from Sabyasachi. Abhishek Chaubey, who makes a directorial debut with this movie was also present at the premiere.
The premiere of ‘Rann’ was held in Delhi and Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan joined in to usher their best wishes to their “paa” Amitabh Bachchan at the premiere. Also present were Gul Panag and director Vishal Bharadwaj, who spoke to the media about his movie.
