You may not believe it, but it is Google inscribed over sari that is on exhibition at a place in Delhi prepared by Satya Paul collections. It is definitely seems an attempt to Indiansation of Google or reflection of technology through the medium of fashion.
Hopefully, soon there would be some Indian dress edition as well for Yahoo! Or Microsoft, anyway watch, how Google sari looks alike.
IIFA awards, 2008, was completed yesterday on June 9, amidst much glamour and glitz. June 7, Saturday night in Bangkok, saw leading cine stars Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ayesha Takia, Zayed Khan and the likes walk the ramp for a charitable event to raise funds for families of workers adversely affected during production of films.
While Kareena did it for Manish Malhotra’s designs, ‘De Taali’ stars, Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh and Ayesha Takia walked the ramp in the works of designer Vikram Phadnis. The lead pair of the much awaited ‘Love Story 2050’, Priyanka and Harman Baweja flared Rohit Bal’s designs and the cast of the forthcoming ‘Mission Istanbul’ including Zayed Khan and Vivek Oberoi , showcased the look of their soon-to-be-released film on ramp. Ms Thailand Universe Khun Farung Yuthithum was another attraction at the event.
The IIFA fashion extravaganza hosted by director Karan Johar and choreographed by Lubna Adams, also showcased designs by Alta Moda, Mufti and Sabyasachi among others.

Last weekend was very special for Bangkok, the capital of Thailand as all the best of Bollywood landed at Thai capital to celebrate IIFA 2008 awards. Some of them tried their austere with the ramp, stars like, Deepika, Ranbir, Kareena, Akshay, Zayed Khan and Fardeen Khan walked the ramp into an event of IIFA fashion show. After Kareena Kapoor and John Abraham, now Bipasha Basu is gearing up to launch her own fashion label ‘BB’. Bipasha’s style and fashion sense is undoubtedly superb and now, the lady wants to extend her signature brand in accordance with her impeccable sense of dressing and style.
With ‘Race’ having the cash registers ringing at the box-office, Bipasha is on an upswing even with her career. Director duo Abbas-Mastaan has approached her for yet another thriller. The movie in question will be produced under their newly launched production house Burmawala Bros. BTW, this is not same movie which is currently being made under their production house, directed by Rumi Jaffrey and starring Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor and Govinda.
There could not have been a better camera comeback for the ‘Chandni’ girl than to shashay down the ramp with a majestic gait all draped in a golden gown for designer duo Priya and Chintan. She had all support from her hubby dearest, Boney Kapoor, and kids who sat in the front row clicking at her. Golden is incidentally Sridevi’s favorite colour.
BTW, also check out gorgeous Dia Mirza who walked the ramp for designer Arshiya Fakih Eappen on the final day at LFW. The actress wore an emerald green satin tube dress with an embellished empire line and walked quite like a pro, unlike a Bollywood babe. Also, an equally delicious eye candy was Yana Gupta for Wendell Rodricks.
Bipasha Basu again proved her excellence at what she does best and where she started fro. Yes, she set the ramp afire at ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week for designers Gauri and Nainika. Yeah, she looked beautiful as ever. But, her long hair was big surprise.
Our space had given you a look of Bipasha’s snipped up short hair look. So in the morning she had short hair, her hair grew long by the time she walked the ramp in evening.
Well, this is magic of the stylish around her. Even with fake hair extension, overall Bips look was really good complementing the dress for the show.
Not long back, this space had informed you that Mallika Sherawat was to play the role of a prostitute-turned-politician in Kundan Shah’s ‘Masquerade’. Now, the latest one is that the loud-mouthed bombshell has walked out of the film owing to some irrevocable creative differences with the director.
Mallika was initially very excited about the project as it was undoubtedly one of the best and most challenging roles of her career. She had even agreed to use the typical UP language laced with colorful epithets. However, during the course of the rehearsals, she developed serious problems with Kundan over creative issues. Word is also going around that she did not like the film’s technical crew but Kundan was adamant about not changing his technical crew. A lot of other creative differences cropped up during the film’s shooting and Mallika, with her no-one-messes-with-me attitude, walked out of the film.
With the leading lady walking out of the film, the project has an undecided fate now because the producers of the film, The Indian Film Company, too has decided to opt out.
Vidya Balan’s makeover look in ‘Heyy Baby’ didn’t really hit off too well. However, designer Manish Malhotra very humbly accepted his fault and sent an SMS of apology to Vidya Balan for her supposedly mal-dressed look in Sajid Khan’s Heyy Babyy. The SMS said ‘I’m sorry I messed up. I hope we get another opportunity.’
However, Vidya very sweetly dismissed Manish’s apology saying that it was not Manish’s fault alone. They somehow couldn’t connect with each other.
“I completely trusted Manish. But Manish and I couldn’t share a direct connect to discuss my clothes. He couldn’t be physically present at the shooting for Heyy Babyy. And considering I was doing a makeover in my looks it was very important for him to be there. We should’ve both worked very closely on my clothes,” explains Vidya.
Vidya now accepts that glamour for her has to be defined in a different more subtle way than it was defined by Manish for Urmila or Kareena. Vidya’s clothes in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ have been done by a new designer Sheena Parekh and Vidya is very happy with her look in the movie.
Between the Sen sisters, the elder one, Riya Sen, is more bubbly, starry and sizzling, more like her mother Moonmoon Sen. The younger one, Raima Sen, is more sober and demure resembling her grandmother much more than either her mother or sister.
Since Raima does not have many movies in hand these days, she is taking up modeling assignments. Recently she walked the ramp for Archana Kocchar bridal collection. Looking stunningly beautiful clad in a bridal wear, Raima admitted being really nervous walking the ramp after a long time “At first I was really nervous and still am as I don’t really do this often,” she says.
With the Fridays most expected release “Laga Chunri Mein Daag”, hitting the theatres on October 12th, the world hasn’t stopped praising Kolkata based designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee for his innovative and stylish sense of dressing up the three leading ladies of the film Jaya Bachchan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Rani Mukherjee.
From the simple small town girl of Varanasi, to the seductive and hot Natasha of Mumbai, actress Rani Mukherjee is not only at her acting best but also dawns some perfectly tailored dresses by this versatile designer. Even Konkona looks the typical “Banaras Ki Gori” in all her outfits.
Since the first half of the film is shot in Benaras, Sabyasachi has done his bit by designing colourful and vibrant suits with short kurtas to the two young sisters, Rani and Konkona, while he has given soft toned cotton saris to Jayaji, their mother.
While the promos have already captivated most eye balls, it will be a sheer treat to see all the three beautiful women of the film along with Abhishek Bachchan, Kunal Kapoor and Anupam Kher, to mesmerize their fans all over again.
Suzanne Roshan is all set to grab some of the stardust surrounding husband Hrithik. The petite mother of one has taken on a modeling project for a jewellary collection designed by her sister Farah Ali Khan.
“Suzanne has a very ethereal and timeless look. She is very beautiful inside out and that is something I want to capture,” says a gushing Farah. Of course, it took some convincing from hubby dearest for the reticent Suzanne to step in front of the camera. Jewel of a campaign, did you say?
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty walked the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week ramp at Pragati Maidan for Tarun Tahiliani’s collection “From Kutch to Kenya“.
She mesmerized the audience in a flowing golden drape dress with a gold headband and waistband.
“People say that by bringing a celebrity on the ramp, a designer can get away with any kind of collection but that is not true. The drape evening dress was designed only keeping her in mind,” Tahiliani said after the show Thursday evening.
For the male counterpart, the collection was inspired by Kathiawari men in Kutch with models in dhotis and wrapped skirts and glorious safas to protect them from the summer sun. The colors ranged from creamy latte, pale pistachio to hot pink.
When Malaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif walked the ramp with other models at JW Mariott hotel in Mumbai sporting Vikram Pahdnis’ designs at the event organized by Zapak.com to unveil the games and Vikram’s look, the crowds were left google-eyed with the funky creations created by Phadnis for Zapak.com.
The two girls were all praise for Vikram, who incidentally is Salman’s regular designer. Katrina said, “Among Indian designers, I love to wear Vikram’s clothes.” Malaika added, “I love wearing his designs.”
However, when Vikram was put under the spot and asked to choose between Salman’s sis-in-law and lady love, the designer was anything but funky or impractical as his designs.” They both are family, so how can I choose?” he laughed.
With ‘Parineeta’ and ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’, Vidya Balan mesmerized her fans with her simple, inncocent and the girl-next-door look, but the effect was so stron that this image has become almost the identity of Vidya.
It is for the first time that Vidya gets a cool and contemporary look in ‘Heyy Baby’ and who else could work the magic better that the designer Manish Malhotra, who ahs given a fresh new makeover for the actress is int film.
“I think the character here is basically that she is intelligent, educated. She lives in Australia and she has turmoil in her life. She is not a character that she is wearing short skirts, sexy clothes, bikini and halter tops which Vidya loves wearing. She loves exposure.
I had to tell her no Vidya no short skirts. I had to beg her for that and she said no I want to wear these hot clothes but we said no. So we worked on the whole look according to the character and that actually is a bit tougher. Simplicity is more difficult to do than ornate stuff,” said Manish Malhotra, Fashion Designer.
