The promotions of Anurag Basu’s much awaited ‘Barfi’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz started with the launch of its first theatrical trailer at Cinemax in Mumbai on Monday, July 2.
Before the launch of trailer, Priyanka tweeted on her Twitter handle: “Launching the #Barfi! Trailer tonight…..butterflies! it’s a very very special film..thank u @basuanurag for making me jhilmil.”
Ranbir plays a deaf and mute character in the film while Priyanka Chopra plays the role of a mentally challenged girl. Ileana plays the love interest of Ranbir and is the narrator in the film. The music is by Pritam and the movie is produced by UTV Motion Pictures.
The stars enjoyed a lot during the trailer launch and Ranbir could be seen making funny faces at the event. “Whatever disability you see right now, you will not feel in the film. We are normal characters. PC (Priyanka) is playing an autistic girl in the film, but she is like this cute puppy dog who you will fall in love with. You will not see the disability,” he said at the event.
Talking about his character in the film, Ranbir said that in the movie his character’s “name is actually Murphy but because he is deaf and mute, he says it as Barfi”.
Priyanka Chopra describes her character as the most lovable one she has ever played. She hopes she has justified director Anurag Basu’s vision. “I thought Jhilmil will be difficult. Initially, it was difficult,” said Priyanka now that “my heart is with Jhilmil”.”It is a very special character and I hope you like it. It is my most endearing character,” she said.

Preity Zinta is ready with her debut production ‘Ishq In Paris’ and as she works with a new actor Gaurav Chanana, who has been rechristened Rhehaan, she remembers her debut days with SRK and Manisha Koirala during ‘Dil Se’.
“Must confess that I appreciate Shah Rukh and Manisha being so amazing to me in ‘Dil Se..’ even more now as I am working with a new actor in IIP,” tweeted Preity.
French actress Isabelle Adjani also has a pivotal role in the movie. “Come September, people across the world will be amazed by Isabelle Adjani in ‘Ishkq In Paris’! I am so amazed n excited by her performance,” wrote Preity Zinta.
The launch of the movie was a gala affair with a lot of guests from Bollywood fraternity present there to offer their best wishes. We were, however, impressed most by Sameera Reddy and Preity Zinta herself. Sameera looked ravishing in the semi-lined grey embellished dress designed by Nimirta Lalwani.
Preity Zinta opted for the classic black and white combo and threw a black jacket over her black and white dress and an embellished belt.
Actress Nargis Fakhri is not exactly riding high on the professional front even after the huge success of her debut vehicle ‘Rockstar’ at the box-office. However, the actress manages to be in the media coverage through various events and campaigns. Recently, she was spotted in a short and cool clue dress at the launch of Samsung Galaxy SIII, held at Le Meridien, New Delhi on May 31, 2012.

India has taken Sunny Leone with open arms. The Canadian porn has not been signed for two projects, she has also bagged in her first endorsement deal with Chaze Mobiles and has also completed the shoot for the commercial in Bangkok a few days back.

Katrina Kaif is the brand ambassador for BlackBerry and the actress turned up in a gorgeous red dress at the launch event of BlackBerry Curve 9220 smart phone in Delhi on Wednesday. Kaif did the honors of unveiling the new BlackBerry Curve 9220 along with the company executives. This new phone by Research in Motion (RIM) is thinner, sleeker and smarter. It comes with BlackBerry OS 7.1 and has a dedicated key for accessing BlackBerry Messenger and FM radio. Priced at Rs. 10,990 the new phone has a 2 megapixel camera and a 2.44″ screen. Katrina appeared in a black dress at the launch party of the new phone.
Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali’s production PI films, headed by his wife Preeti, has offered Katrina the lead role in ’22 Tango’ which happens to be a remake of the 2009 Korean film My Girlfriend is an Agent.
With many celebrities across the world trying to switch over to vegetarian diet, actress Zarine Khan too wishes to go green but is finding it a difficult task.
“I have been a non-vegetarian since birth, so it is not very easy. Hats off to vegetarian people… I am trying my level best to turn vegetarian,” she said at the launch of the Bhagwat Calendar revealing the fact that she found Kareena Kapoor the sexiest vegetarian.
Talking about her diet and fitness secrets, Zarine said, “I eat whatever I want to in the right quantity and at the right time. If I have a craving for something, I make sure I indulge in it but not too much.”

Bollywood’s reigning Glam Diva, Priyanka Chopra, clearly justified the title as she looked utterly glamorous and beautiful at the launch of Nikon 1 V1 and J1cameras in Mumbai.
Priyanka left for the event in a huff as she tweeted on her social networking site, “On my way to the Nikon press conference..launching very cool cameras! But super late!! Eeep! Outfit crisis and then traffic!! Need a chopper.”
However, her graceful presence did not give a hint of any mess. She looked as ravishing as ever in a white outfit at the launch and said: “First of all, we are launching two of them (cameras): one is the J1 and the other one is the V1. John Abrahma is busy these days with his debut production venture ‘Vicky Donor’. The film is a small-budget project on the subject of infertility and sperm donation. The first theatrical promo and first look of the film was launched at a suburban multiplex in Mumbai on March 7. The film stars VJ Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam in lead roles.
Talking at the launch of the first look of his film, John also commented on the importance of sperm donation. “I would donate my sperm for a social cause. There are industrialists, police officers, people from army donating sperm because they want to keep their sperm aside because they are not sure whether they will be back from their battle. I would definitely do it,” he said.
Meanwhile, John, who was detained Friday after a court rejected an appeal against his conviction for injuring two people while riding a motorcycle in 2006, is out on bail. Bandra additional chief metropolitan magistrate S.V. Kulkarni had convicted Abraham in 2010 for injuring two youths – Tanmay Majhi (19) and Shyam Kasbe (22) when his motorcycle collided with their bicycle in Khar in northwest Mumbai in April 2006. John had taken the responsibility of taking the two victims to a hospital.
Fashionista Sonam Kapoor was caught making a style statement on Wednesday, March 6, in a gorgeous greena and black Masaba Gupta saree as she attended the launch event of ‘Wassup! Andheri’. The fest is a three day Arts & entertainment extravaganza in Mumbai staring from March 16 to March 18. The multi-starrer ‘Players’ will hit the screens tomorrow on January 6, thus being the first release of this year. The team of the movie were present at its Dubai premiere looking extraordinarily eye-catching. The male cast were in black tuxedos and the female were in white. Sonam Kapoor donned on a J P Gaultier gown while Bipasha Basu went for a white strapless gown with one leg exposed.
The cast posted their experience on their social networking site. Bips wrote, “My day today in Dubai was Amazing! People of Dubai are so warm. Big groups of people, all sang Happy Birthday to me wherever we went! Very touched!”

The movie has Abhishek play a guy who is a Chartered Accountant by day and a master-thief by night. Sonam plays a computer expert with a Masters in Ethical Hacking. Bipasha plays an automobile expert and Neil Nitin Mukesh a master hacker.
After ‘Ra.One’, Shahrukh Khan-starrer ‘Don 2: The King is Back’ is also being launched as a video game with Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment joining hands with Ganeshshastra and Mango games, two leading gaming companies in India.
“I feel gaming is a good platform to tell stories of a film and about the characters through this medium. Today, gaming is a biggest platform. They make games according to films. I hope more and more films make use of this growing platform,” Shahrukh Khan said.
Ganeshshastra has developed a game where players can get to play Shahrukh’s character and do action sequences similar to those enacted in the film. The game will be launched in March next year. The other game, developed by Mango Games, will be launched on Facebook on December 23, the day the film releases in cinema houses.
