Kambakkht Ishq that is expected to do big as assured by its makers, however, had a star studded press meet attended by celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and no doubt big and tall Akshay Kumar was also at the meet to promote the movie. According to Kareena Kapoor, ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ is a “power-packed film which is going to rock today and tomorrow”. However in meantime, watch some pictures from the press conference.
Remember Kalki Koechlin? The same girl who debuted with Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Dev.D’ where she played the character of Chandramukhi. This Indian actress with French descent has also done some modeling assignments for smaller screen. Though she is well versed in Tamil, English and French, she had to learn Hindi for her role in Dev.D.
Kalki got rave reviews for her performance in Dev D. Hindustan Times read, “Kalki shows sparks in the scenes. Enter Chanda, the multilingual call girl who can seduce in Hindi, Tamil, English and French. With her bee-stung lips, unusual face and refreshing lack of acting guile, Kalki Koechlin imbues the part with a touching fragility.”
Kalki has also won the Hindu metro playwright award 2009 along with Prashant Prakash for their co-authored entry ‘Skeleton Woman.’ She had also acted in the play “Hair” directed by Ajaykrishnan.

On one hand where Kareena Kapoor will be seen in a super glam avatar for ‘Kambakkth Ishq’, she sports a completely de-glam or you could say a geeky look for Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiots’ where she plays the role of Neha, the professor’s daughter, from the book ‘Five Point Someone’. Aamir Khan, on the other hand, would be playing the handsome and genius Ryan. Sharman Joshi plays the role of Alok and Madhavan will be Hari, who adores Ryan and wants to be like him.
The cast and crew were in New Delhi at Connaught Place for the shoot of the film where Kareena was spotted wearing spectacles and Aamir was seen handling a strange machine named ‘virus inverter’.
The crew has already shot in Shimla, Ladakh, Bangalore and Mumbai. When they shot at the Pangong Lake in Ladakh which is 13,900 feet above sea level, Kareena went breathless due to the lack of oxygen.
“We had little oxygen, no electricity and no hot water. On top of that, I was in a wedding ghagra-choli outfit in that freezing cold, can you imagine! The wind almost swept me off my feet,” said Kareena.
To protect herself from the freezing cold, Kareena wore thermal heating along with her outfit. “But that was of very little help. Finally the unbearable cold was all worth it for a wonderful film. The boys (Aamir and Madhavan) were great fun. And Raju Hirani is a gem.”
Neetu Chandra has lately been in news more for her controversial photoshoots than for her roles in the films. Now, she has been signed for an important role in ‘No Problem’ directed by Annez Bazmi and produced by Anil Kapoor. The movie is a comedy and stars Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Kangana Ranaut, Sushmita Sen and Paresh Rawal. Neetu will be paired opposite Sanjay Dutt for the first time.
Bazmee confirmed the news that Neetu Chandra had been signed on for an important role and added, “I cannot reveal anything about her role now because it’s too early, but yes, Neetu is going to be the surprise package in the film. She suited the role perfectly.”
Revealing more about the film, he said, “I am planning to start shooting the film next month in South Africa and it will be a 50-day long schedule. After that we will have one more schedule in Singapore and Bangkok.”
Having a most unusual pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead roles Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ forthcoming venture ‘Wake Up Sid’ seems to awake much enthusiasm among the cinelovers. The movie is being directed by debutante Ayaan Mukherjee, who earlier was assistant director of Ashutosh Gowariker in ‘Swades’ and Karan Johar in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’.
Scheduled to release on October 2, 2009, the movie is based on the story of a handsome young boy (Ranbir Kapoor) who falls for an older and simple writer woman (Konkona Sen Sharma).Anupam Kher will be seen as father of Ranbir Kapoor.
This will be the first film produced by Dharma Productions that will be distributed worldwide by UTV Motion Pictures and not by Yash Raj Films, thus marking the end of the collaboration between Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films.
Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan had appeared together in ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ but the movie failed to create magic at the box-office. Now, the two stars are set to appear together again for ‘Sahib Biwi and Gulam’ which is being produced and directed by Rituparno Ghosh.
The movie tells the story of a wealthy zamindar and his beautiful wife. The zamindar is in habit of visiting brothels and kothas which leaves the wife lonely. Then there is a young man named Bhoot Nath who is hired as a servant to this zamindar. Bhootnath comes close to the lonely wife and both soon develop a platonic relationship. Then Bhootnath comes to know and feel his mistress’s loneliness and the life she is cursed to live.

Lux Comedy Honors 2009 results will be announced today on Star Gold. The event has the host Sajid Khan giving the audience a taste of his witty humor. The award for Rising Actor with Comic Excellence will be given to Ranbir Kapoor and Rising Actress with Comic Excellence awarded to Deepika Padukone. Minissha Lamba will present the award to Riteish Deshmukh for Male Performer with Comic Excellence. Kirron Kher gets the award for Female Performer with Comic Excellence. Katrina Kaif receives the Lead Actress with Comic Excellence award and Saif Ali Khan gets it for the Lead Actor with Comic Excellence.
This Monday, Mumbai saw the music release of Abbas Mastaan’s romantic thriller ‘Runaway’. The film which is being produced by 171 Entertainment Private Limited stars Deepal Shaw, Tulip Joshi, Lucky Ali and debutant actor Amarjeet.
Tulip is playing the role of a bar dancer for the first time in the film and has shot a real sexy time number for the film. “In this film there is a lot of freshness and for me the character which I play which is that of a bar dancer I have never played in my life and have never been a part of a film like this. I did a lot of research and preparation for this role,” said Joshi.
Deepal Shaw revealed more about the film saying, “The Unique Selling Proposition (USP) of this film is that it looks very sleek as these days the packaging rules and it’s a well packaged film. The songs are good and I hope that 70 percent of our population which comes from B and C grade towns they will like the songs which will be an attraction of this film.”
Last Monday Neetu Chandra inaugurated the Geetanjali stores at Bandra, Mumbai. She looked gorgeous in a yellow dress which she carried off quite well. The gal was recently caught in a controversy regarding some hot photoshoot for the men’s magazine ‘The Man’ with another female model. However, the magazine went ahead and used the photographs. Amruta Patki was the crowning beauty of Ponds Femina Miss India 2006 and now as a next stepping stone in the glamour world, the beautiful girl will make her debut on the silver screen with producer Apporva Lakhia’s next project which will supposedly be a supernatural thriller. Amruta got the role after being selected in the audition which included almost a dozen aspirants.
Lakhia is happy with his choice and says, “I want to prove beauty queens can act.”
The film which is titled ‘Hide and Seek’ will also launch Lakhia’s assistant Sean Arranha as the director and Lakhia is very supportive to his director. He says, “My director Sean is just a baby. We need to nurture new talent not intimidate them. ”
Lakhia divulges more about the film saying, “I won’t only produce Your browser may not support display of this image.the film but also co-write it with Suresh Nair. Hide N Seek is about four friends played by Purab Kohli, Arjan Bajwa, Ayaaz Khan (Genelia’s fiancé in Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na) and Samir Kochhar whose terrible past catches up with them.”
Recently Katrina Kaif got an opportunity to visit the security prison at Guantanamo Bay as she shot for a movie at the place. The place horrified the delicate beauty so much that she was left drained and gloomy after her visit to the place. When she came face to face with the stories of brutality and tortures associated with the prison, she was absolutely shocked.
A depressed Katrina said, “We are not making a documentary on 9/11 and so this film is highly entertaining yet very realistic. We shot in actual locations associated with the 9/11 attacks and Guantanamo was one of them. I was there for just a day to shoot my portions. It was shocking to see the high-profile prison where people who were sentenced for their lives were also living.”
“I did not meet any person arrested and jailed in connection with the terror attacks. But I have heard stories about them when I was shooting there. Some most wanted criminals have stayed there”, she added.
