18th Annual Colors Screen Awards 2012 took place amidst much glamour and glitter with whos who of Bollywood attending the event and with some very exciting performances by Bollywood stars. SRK was the witty host for the event along with Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan and Katrina Kaif. The show witnessed some memorable performances by Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. The celebrity who stole everyone’s glances was Deepika Padukone who made a statement in a stunning green, backless dress.

The Best Film Award was shared by ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ – both of which bagged several awards as well. Ranbir Kapoor and Vidya Balan won Best Actor and Best Actress for their films ‘Rockstar’ and ‘The Dirty Picture’ respectively. AR Rahman bagged the Best Music Director’s Award while Asha Bhosale received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Priyanka Chopra got the best actress award for her negative role in ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ and Prashant Narayan won the award in male category for ‘Murder 2′.

The song ‘Kolaveri Di’ by South superstar Rajnikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush has become a huge rage among the youngsters and now, reports have it that the superstar himself will be doing a cameo for the song that is supposed to feature in the film ‘(3)’ which is being directed by Rajnikanth’s elder daughter Aishwarya Dhanush. The movie stars Dhanush and Shruti Hassan in the lead roles.

Apparently, Aishwarya and Dhanush requested Rajnikanth to do a special appearance in the film. When Rajni first heard the song he burst out laughing. Then he gladly accepted to be a part of ‘Kolaveri Di’. Dhanush has confirmed the rumors saying, “We’d only love it if he’s part of everything we do.”

The movie ‘3’ is already getting accolades and will hit the theatres in January.

Both ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ and ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ took the entire nation by rage last year and this year singer and composer Daler Mehndi has yet again created buzz with his spoof song ‘ Sheila Ho Ya Munni’ which has become a rage online. The song is choreographed by Raka and its video is directed by Vikas Gulati.

Talking about this song and its making, Daler Mehndi said, “Why can’t I make a song like this? People were singing for Sheila and Munni, I just put the two of them together. The song talks about the want to kiss, but there’s no kissing in it. In fact, even Mika (Mehndi’s brother, and singer) had messaged me asking what kind of a song I’ve come out with. I told him, ‘Main toh chummi lene ki baat kar raha hoon, tumne toh chummi le li hai’.”

Mehndi is also ready with this next studio album, Tunak Tunak Tumba, after a gap of five long years. “There’s a song each for every mindset. I’ve even delved in Haryanvi this time, so from Sufi to Mild Rock, from Bhangra to Raggae, to even classical, there is a song for everybody.”

There couldn’t be a better way to celebrate the real estate tycoon K.P.Singh’s 80th birthday than have Latino pop sensation Shakira grooving to her hit numbers. The celebrations had begun right in August this year and partying will go on in November as well with a planned three-day gala beginning November 12. The celebrations will be held in Delhi, Gurgaon and Udaipur and will include a launch of Singh’s autobiography in Delhi, sumptuous dinners and conclude with a performance by Shakira in Udaipur on November 15.

This being a private party there will be a limited guest list of about 500 people and will include the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Hritik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, and pop star Ricky Martin who might make it to Udaipur.

Akshay Kumar is known for his dedication and sure enough the actor is going a step ahead for his first Indo-Canadian venture Speedy Singh earlier titled Breakaway. He recently shot for a special song Shera Di Kaum, which is a rap number, with A-lister rapper and actor Ludacris, and the smashing Punjabi trio RDB. AK and Ludacris bonded really well during the shoot and have been in touch since then. The song will be shown when the end credits roll.

This flick is directed by Robert Lieberman and produced by Akshay Kumar and Paul Gross. The flick stars Vinay Virmani, Russell Peters, Anupam Kher, Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi and Noureen Dewulf, with Rob Lowe and Camilla Belle and has cameo appearances by Akshay Kumar, Aubrey ´Drake’ Graham (Music Feature) and Chris ´Ludacris’ Bridges (Music Feature). It is a cross-cultural comedy-drama set in the Indo-Canadian community of suburban Toronto, Canada and is the story of South Asian immigrants and is said to be inspired by the life of a hockey player and is the story of an underdog.

The movie will first be screened at the Toronto Film Festival and it will release worldwide on September 23.

IPL tournament is at hand and SRK is leaving no stones unturned to revv up the spirit of his Kolkata Knight Riders which could not prove their might in the three IPL tournaments held so far. However, SRK is high in his spirits and to give a kick to the energy and spirits of the team, he has roped in Latino singer Shakira to feature alongside him in a music video for KKR. The song has been composed by Salim-Suleiman and rendered by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

SRK bonded with Shakira during FIFA World Cup in South Africa last year. SRK has also tied up with Hollywood film-maker Martin Scorsese for a movie that will also star Leonardo DiCaprio.

There is hardly any gossip column which did not go red when Mika Singh and Rakhi Sawant’s kiss controversy struck the limelight. Now, the two have buried their hatchet and Rakhi is doing an item song sung by Mika in her forthcoming flick ‘Qasam Se Qasam Se’. On a recent episode of her comedy show ‘Comedy Circus’, Rakhi Sawant hugged Mika Singh, who had come there as a celebrity judge and publicly declared that they are friends again.

The flick has Rakhi playing a teacher in the film named Delnaz Doodhwala who is born and brought up abroad. She is a sex education teacher in the film and the item song goes something like ‘ Bolne Mein Kya Jaata Hain’. the film is directed by debutante Ashfaque Makrani and will mark the debut of Azim & Faith. In the item song Azim and his gang is trying to grab Rakhi’s attention.

Gorgeous and talented though Chitrangada Singh is, the lass does not appear in many films and is very choosy about what she signs. Her forthcoming flicks are ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’ opposite Irrfan Khan and Rohit Dhawan’s directorial debut, ‘Desi Boyz’ opposite John Abraham.

Now, Chitrangada has signed yet another flick opposite John Abraham being directed by Goldie Behl. Says the beautiful actress, “Yes, I’m doing Goldie Behl’s next. It’s opposite John Abraham. The film is untitled now. We begin shooting from 17th February. It’s a drama. But I can’t reveal more about it right now.”

Prakash Jha Productions’ gangster romance, Yeh Saali Zindagi, is slated for a February 4 release, and for the first time, Chitrangada has exercised her vocal chords to render the title track of the film with composer-singer Abhishek Ray.

For the female vocals, Ray auditioned a number of singers but wasn’t happy. It was Mishra who suggested he try out Singh. “And she was an apt choice because she had the right attitude befitting a snooty woman who, when asked to wait forever, retorts that she doesn’t even wait for the bus,” laughs Ray, admitting that he needed just an evening’s rehearsal with the actor to make her “musically correct” for the recording.

If all goes well, the ‘Hips don’t lie’ girl Shakira will be playing Goddess Kali UK based film producer Karan Arora’s 3D VFX movie ‘Kali-the warrior Goddess’. Though the movie is not strictly speaking on the Goddess herself, but it does draw inspiration from Hindu mythology.

Throwing more light on the project and its association with the Columbia based singer Shakira, Arora said, “It’s a fiction movie. Only the look, feel and fabric are inspired by Hindu Mythology. The story is different than what people may expect.”

“We are fine tuning the association and it will be finalised after negotiations, paper work, and documentation. The casting is still in the initial stages. We started pre-production little less than a year ago. The film will be set in the imaginary world and no timelines have been set. Hence, there will not be any real location in the film. It will be similar to James Cameron’s Avatar but not as big,” Arora added.

Kali-the warrior Goddess will be directed by Simon Hunter with technicians from USA, UK and Research team from Kolkata to work on the look of the movie.

Arora said “Kali will not be typical song and dance movie. One will not see Shakira as we are used to seeing her dance. The movie will not hurt anybody’s sentiments.”

The movie will go on floors in April next year and is slated for a 2013 release. Arora’s ‘Bhindi Bazaar’ starring Deepti Naval and Manisha Koirala is almost ready and ‘Padosi’ and ‘Lets Talk Love’ are near completion.

Mallika Sherawat is trying everything under the sun to make her much awaited film ‘Hisss’ a big news. First, she shifted to Los Angeles, then she posted her topless pics on Twitter and went on to walk the Cannes Red Carpet in a snake inspired outfit. Now, this is the next one from the sexy bombshell. She has just recorded two songs for the film before he left for Mumbai to start her shooting schedule for ‘Double Dhamaal’. The songs have been sung by her in the sexy style of French actress Brigitte Bardot’s legendary collaborations with musician Serge Gainsbourg.

Out of the two songs, the first is composed and arranged by Julian Lennon, son of John Lennon from the iconic rock band The Beatles. The second track recorded is arranged by German composer Alexander Von Bubenheim, who provided the background score for ‘Hisss’.

The music of the film will be launched in mid-September at a big event in Mumbai. Venus Records and Tapes will be releasing the songs for digital and mobile downloads including iTunes in the coming weeks.

It was quite an eyeful when music maestro A.R.Rahman came together with Bollywood’s reigning beauty Katrina Kaif. The occasion was the launch of ‘Rhymeskool’ in Mumbai, the music album of nursery rhymes for kids released under Sa Re Ga Ma. The rhymes in the CD have been composed by Rahman and rendered by Katrina Kaif.

The master Rahman expressed his humble gratitude saying, “I want to thank Sa Re Ga Ma for trusting K.M.Music Conservatory with this project. I want to thank Selva who has been mentoring the kids, Johnny my band-mate and also all the staff, teachers from my school who have been working on this project. I would also like to thank Katrina for her kind gesture and for being part of this project.”

Katrina, too, expressed her joy on being associated with the project and said, “Education for children is something that is very important for this country. It’s a topic that is very close to my mother’s and my heart. I would like to thank Sa Re Ga Ma for coming up with such a noble initiative. For me, it was a great honour to be associated with something Rahman saab was doing. I feel really happy being here and hope that we can achieve what we set out to. If the kids like it, we can may be come out with more such interesting concepts in the future.”

Katrina will be distributing the CDs at the Mercy Home orphanage in Madurai that she and her mother are closely associated with.

Hrithik Roshan’s fans have yet another reason to wait his mega project ‘Kites’ as the actor makes his singing debut with the film. As such, the music of the film is being launched on 40 television channels by airing Hrithik’s debut song ‘Kites in the sky’, in English, along with some behind-the-scenes footage on 29th March at 9.30 p.m.

Talking about his feelings as a debutant singer, Hrithik said, “I was nervous to make my debut as a singer, considering I come from a family that is well known in the world of music, but for this very reason my chacha [Rajesh Roshan] and director Anurag Basu were most certain that I could sing. I have given this song my best and honest shot, but I still don’t consider myself a professional singer.”

“Early in the morning, I would start with my sa re ga ma… right from the time I would wake up to brushing my teeth to taking the shower, all the time I sang with hand movements trying to reach the highest scale and the lowest note,” he added.

Talking about his experience of recording the song he said, “I had fallen in love with the art of shutting your eyes from the world and going in meditative state where you just sing. But when I went to the studio, it was a totally different story.

They put you in this little compartment and you are not allowed to move because the mike is fixed. While practicing I had been so mobile. And now I was locked up in one place where I couldn’t even move my legs because the breath shifts in different direction.

Finally, I told them to just switch off all the lights of the studio because I wasn’t being able to get my best out. So they just blacked out the entire studio. I could not even see my mike because it was so dark. This blackout worked and helped me to come out of the inhibitions in the mind. That’s how I finally worked.”
