After ‘Taare Zammen Par’, Darsheel Safari’s parents had declined a lot of offers because they wanted their kid to concentrate on his studies first, but finally they’ve given in and now, Darsheel has signed his next.

The film is the Hindi remake of Majid Majidi’s 1997 Iranian film ‘Children of Heaven’ which is about a little brother and sister, Ali and Zahra, and their adventures over a lost pair of shoes. Darsheel will play the role of the little boy in the film to be directed by Priyadarshan.

Producer Arindam Chaudhuri of ‘Planman’ confessed in one of his interviews that Rituparno is in love with the way Rekha looked in ‘Silsila’ and she wanted a similar get-up for Preity in ‘The Last Lear’.

The first teaser of Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘Drona’ has already created a lot of stirs. Now, Eros International is all set to unveil yet another magnificent promo of the film this Independence Day which will be shown across theatres along with ‘God Tussi Great Ho’. This teaser will unveil the look of Kay Kay Menon who plays the antagonist Riz Raizada and Priyanka Chopra who plays Sonia.

Drona, produced by Shrishti Arya (Rose Films) and Sunil Lulla (Eros International) is a fantasy adventure with loads of special effects. Directed by Goldie Behl, the film is set to release on Oct 2.

The music launch of Vikram Bhatt’s ‘1920’ was held in a grand way with almost everyone present at the occasion including Anjorie Alagh, Adah Sharma, Kailash Kher, Vikram Bhatt, Sameer, Pandit Jasraj, Rakhi Sawant, and Rajneesh Duggal.  However, the absence of music composer for the film, Adnan Sami, was conspicuously felt.

The reason for Adnan’s absence was that he has been hospitalized due to a bad case of food poisoning which he suffered a couple of days back. Adnan really regretted missing the opportunity but is fine now and on a way to speedy recovery.

It all happened on the sets of a television reality show where Ranbir Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone appeared for the promotion of their upcoming ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’.

Incidentally, Deepika was to make an entry with Ranbir, but Bips did not like the idea at all and insisted that she should make an entry with the Kapoor kid. So, the promoters decided to focus on Bipasha on the TV show and arranged an entry of Ranbir and Bipasha together. Deepika, sadly, was sidelined.

We have given her a lot of short dresses and have even played around with different colors. Even though she is part of a gang of guys, she has not been given a rugged look. In fact, she has been given a stunning and sophisticated look”, says Thea of the designer duo.

The latest buzz in the industry is that Katrina Kaif will not be a part of the Sohail Khan Productions’ sequel to Partner, i.e., ‘Partner 2’. The film is set to go on the floors in March-April next year and David Dhawan is sweating hard at the script. David has also been signed for another film under Sohail Khan Productions which is titled as ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’.

Sohail Khan confirmed the news when he said, “The sequel to Partner will have the same leading actors - Salman and Govinda, but we are looking for different leading ladies.”

It could be recalled here that Salman-Govinda starrer ‘Partner’ was a huge hit in 2007. Katrina was paired opposite Govinda and Salman played the Love Guru. Meanwhile, we are wondering here that does this news confirm the souring relationship between Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif?

Ajay Devgan recently has been trying his physical limits far too much these days. The actor who made a debut as an action hero in ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ has put in his best to the action sequences for his film ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’.

One of such scenes had Ajay dangling in the air through a harness attached to cables. Ajay’s character fights an evil villain of Toonpur in the scene. The scenes were being shot over the week under the supervision of Hollywood stunt director Jack Gill.

However, being in the harness for hours during the shoots had a toll on Ajay’s back. After two days, the actor’s back got stiff and sore. To make matters worse, Ajay refused to take any painkillers. As a result, his back got so bad that he had to take a break and give himself complete bed rest, thus hampering the film’s shoot.

Now, Ajay is better and is expected to resume shooting soon.

The Indian distributor of Deepa Mehta’s film ‘Heaven On Earth’ has insisted that the movie be dubbed in Hindi. So, Preity Zinta, who plays the protagonist in the film will join Mehta in Toronto for the screening of the film and will later do her portions with Mehta. Preity is currently touring with the Bachchans on their ‘Unforgettable’ tour. Meanwhile, Deepa will arrive at Mumbai next week to take care of the Hindi dubbing of the film.

‘Preity will have to do her portions in Toronto after her world tour with the Bachchans and also attend the Toronto Festival screening,’ said the Canada-based director.

Mehta’s ‘Heaven On Earth’ is to be screened during the Toronto Film Festival in September at the prestigious Elgin theatre.

‘It’s the venue of all serious-minded films at the Toronto Film Festival. Last year the Coen Brothers’ ‘No Country For Old Men’ premiered there. This year I’m proud to have my film there in the Special Representation section,’ said Mehta.

Blue-eyed Adah Sharma with her girl-next-door look is making her debut with Vikram Bhatt’s supernatural thriller ‘1920’ produced by ASA Film Production and Enterprises Pvt Ltd. In the movie, Adah plays an Anglo Indian girl who falls in love with a Hindu boy and there are mysterious things that happen with them.

Paired with her is Rajneesh Duggal who again will make his debut in the film. The film is set in the era of 1920 and the characters will be seen dressed in the clothes that people wore in 1920.

The film being a supernatural thriller, Adah had a spooky and chilling experience while

shooting in a castle for the film. She recalls, “Everyone at Yorkshire said the castle we shot in was haunted, that a single old man stayed there and his wife died and her spirit still lives on there. There was a painting of a woman with dark black hair and blue eyes and we all thought I resembled her. So the photographer asked me to get a still photo taken standing in front of the painting. The caretaker said that any pictures taken in front of the paining don’t get developed. But we went ahead and took a few pictures. But when we transferred the pictures to a laptop, they all came blurred or blank!! That was quite spooky!!”

Well, the debut movie will quite be a memorable one for the girl, it seems!

This would be the first solo-heroine film for the Moon moon Sen daughter Raima Sen who has already got critical appreciation for her performances in ‘Godmother’, ‘Eklavya’ and ‘Chokher Bali’.

She has played supporting roles, cameos and special appearances in various films, but for the first time she will play the solo heroine in Balaji Motion Picture’s ‘C KKompany’.

‘This film is very important for me, as I play the solo heroine in the film. I have done various films where I have played important roles. I have done special appearances, played supporting actress or was one of the two or more heroines, but this is my film where I am the solo heroine,’ said Raima.

The film is a fun-filled comedy about three friends from different age groups who are striving to achieve their respective dreams. It is about their struggle and a series of events which changes their lives in a dramatic way.

‘I find comedy the most difficult thing to do. I don’t have many comic scenes to perform in the film as I am playing a middle class girl who is the sister of under world don played by Mithun Chakraborty,’ said Raima.

The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Tusshar Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Rajpal Yadav and has been directed by Sachin Yardi who has written scripts for films like ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum’ and ‘Traffic Signal’.

Raima’s forthcoming releases are Madhureeta Anand’s ‘Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye’, Aparna Sen’s ‘Japanese Wife’ and Ruchi Narayan’s short film ‘Mumbai Cutting’.
