Rajkumar Santoshi is set to start a film with the novel pairing of Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor. The film will be a romantic comedy and Santoshi maintains that it has in no way any links with his superhit ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ which starred Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. The film goes on floors from Feb 1.
Giving in more details about the film, Santoshi says, “It’s in the same creative space as my Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. Abhay and Sonam would be captured in a comedy of errors like Ranbir and Katrina, though this is a completely different script and has no bearing on Ajab Prem…”
Santoshi goes a long way in bonding with the lead actors’ parents. While he shares a great rapport with Anil Kapoor since ‘Lajja’, his association with the Deola also goes a long way back. The film will be produced by Santoshi and the cinematography will be done by the ace-cameraman Ravi K Chandran.
If things turn out as planned, cine lovers down South would get to see the unique pairing of South superstar Rajnikanth with Bollywood’s reigning beauty Katrina Kaif in the forthcoming flick ‘Kochadaiyaan’.
The film will be directed by Rajnikanth’s daughter Saundarya and the movie will have Rajni sir play the role of a long-haired king who is a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva. Katrina will play the king’s love interest and the film will also have the two shoot for a romantic number composed by music maestro A.R.Rahman. The film will be made in 3D using the performance capturing technology used by James Cameron in the Hollywood blockbuster Avatar.
South is not a new arena for Kaif who has already worked in two Telugu films (Malliswari and Allari Pidugu) and a Malayalam movie (Balaram Vs Taradas). Kochadaiyaan will be her first Tamil film though, of course, only if she can manage to squeeze out some dates from the diaries of three Khans with whom she is currently busy with!!
Katrina Kaif has all the cream of three Khans in Bollywood this year. She is busy with Salman Khan in ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. Her film with Shahrukh Khan went on floors this Monday and next, she will move on to Aamir Khan in ‘Dhoom 3’.
The film with SRK is being made under YRF banners and will be directed by Yash Chopra himself who is returning to direction after eight long years. This out and out love story will be shot in exotic loactions of London, Thailand and India and has musical notes from A.R. Rahman and Gulzar. Yash Chopra’s son, Uday Chopra tweeted,
“Launching my dad’s film today with a little pooja at YRF… shoot starts tomorrow with @ iamsrk and Katrina Kaif.. Dad directing after Veer- Zaara.”
Actress Ameesha Patel is surely playing her cards well in the second innings of her career. Her image transformation into a sexy bombshell in her last release ‘Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic’ failed to impress the audience but the actress has lots of promising projects in store for the year 2012.
She’s working on Shortcut Romeo opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh, second schedule of Race 2, and Bhaiyyaji Superhit with Sunny Deol, both of which are to start soon. Now, the actress has landed up with yet another plum role.
She has reportedly been signed up by David Dhawan for his next where Ameesha is requires to play a role of a high-profile prostitute in Prague. This will be first of its kind for Ameesha. The film will go on the floors by April this year and David wants Ameesha to spend at least 15 days to imbibe the energy of Parisians and understand their way of life. Ameesha also confirmed the news saying, “It’s a first for me. And yes, I am really excited to test the waters by playing the role of a high-profile Indian prostitute in Paris.’
The film is being produced by Ameesha Patel Productions. Her business partner Kuunal Goomer adds, “Davidji is in Goa currently shooting for Chashmebaddoor and also preparing for his son’s wedding there. Once done, we are geared to roll by April. The film is a romantic thriller with good comedy and suspense as well. We will shoot Ameesha with real Parisian hookers on the streets there. The effect will be magical.”
Pooja Bhatt has let out the first poster of her ‘Jism 2’ and given by the looks of the poster, the cinegoers are left with no doubts about what to expect from the film. However, though the people in the industry are linking the two events of the eviction of the film’s leading lady Sunny Leone from ‘Big Boss’ and the release of the poster, Pooja Bhatt is still shying away from revealing the identity of the girl in the poster.
But smart Bhatt girl, Pooja is definitely against letting out the secret. “I ain’t letting my secret out.” And as far as the poster goes, Pooja says that since there was so much speculation, they decided to put a little teaser in place. Another surprise in film is that it would cast two male actors.
The multi-starrer ‘Players’ will hit the screens tomorrow on January 6, thus being the first release of this year. The team of the movie were present at its Dubai premiere looking extraordinarily eye-catching. The male cast were in black tuxedos and the female were in white. Sonam Kapoor donned on a J P Gaultier gown while Bipasha Basu went for a white strapless gown with one leg exposed.
The cast posted their experience on their social networking site. Bips wrote, “My day today in Dubai was Amazing! People of Dubai are so warm. Big groups of people, all sang Happy Birthday to me wherever we went! Very touched!”
Abhishek Bachchan tweeted, “Dubai, thank you for the love and positivity.”
The movie has Abhishek play a guy who is a Chartered Accountant by day and a master-thief by night. Sonam plays a computer expert with a Masters in Ethical Hacking. Bipasha plays an automobile expert and Neil Nitin Mukesh a master hacker.
Akshay Kumar has returned to his old love for action with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and the makers of the film had hired some four street painters to make a portrait of the film’s lead cast Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. Reports have it that both the actors had to spend almost four hours standing still in the same position, so the artists could create the piece flawlessly. So, now the four versions of the posters for this Prabhudeva’s directorial is done all of which will be unveiled in due course of time.
Akshay Kumar, who will be seen sporting a moustache for the film, is completely satisfied with the output and says, “The looks being unveiled are keeping the action theme and the attitude of Rowdy Rathore in mind.”
Rowdy Rathore is an out-an-out action film with a touch of comedy. The makers have wrapped up the first two shooting schedules of the film and are now preparing to shoot in Karnataka next.
Zarine Khan has been a Salman Khan discovery as a lookalike of Katrina Kaif with whom he had a painful breakup. However, even with Salman as her Godfather, Zarine did not manage to make it big in Bollywood. So, the actress has taken an intelligent decision to move down Sotuh and she has even bagged in a plum role in a Tamil film, titled Karikalan where she will be seen opposite south star Vikram.
Vikram has already been seen in Bollywood with Aishwarya Rai in ‘Raavan’ playing her husband. In this Tamil Flick, Vikram plays a warrior on the lines of a gladiator. The promotional poster of the film shows him armed with bows and arrows against the backdrop of a lance-wielding legion.
Zarine Khan has a lot of action scenes in the film including a sword fighting one. So, the lady is all geared up for a gruelling training schedule.
After Aishwarya Rai Bachchan left Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’ to its fate, actress Kareena Kapoor took up the project and recently completed the first schedule of the film. The second schedule will start in February 2012.
It is said that director Madhur Bhandarkar wanted Kareena Kapoor to watch Angelina Jolie’s award-winning TV film, Gia (1998) in order to grasp the role better. However, Kareena Kapoor immediately turned down the idea and said that she did not want to ape any other actor and wanted to keep things natural.
Confirming the news, Kareena said, “Yes, Madhur said, ‘watch Gia and look at Jolie’s performance.’ But I told him to let me get into Heroine completely blank; I asked him to guide me. I don’t want to take on performances of other actors. I want to play the role like I essay other parts — in a natural way. I don’t want to prepare for it.”
Vidya Balan has created her own space in Bollywood by giving convincing and some very memorable performances so far. After successfully playing the lead in female oriented films like ‘Pa’, ‘No one killed Jessica’ and now, ‘ The Dirty Picture’, the actress is ready yet again with another female eccentric film ‘Kahaani’ which is set for March 2012 release. The film is based on the heart wrenching story of a pregnant woman in search of her husband which takes her all the way from Kolkata to London. The film is directed and co-produced by Sujoy Ghosh and stars Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi in the lead roles.

Katrina Kaif is all set to grab the tag of the ‘Item Queen’ of Bollywood. She rocked the nation with her ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ and is also gathering praises for her moves and sensuality in ‘Chikni Chameli’
But this is not all for her. The actress is all set to move a step further with item number in her forthecoming flick Dhoom 3 where she will be joined by the ace actor Aamir Khan. The item song was not part of the original script but was added later on, to cash in with the growing popularity and craze for item numbers. Katrina and Aamir have never worked together before hand with Aamir who does not excel in the art of dancing, some preparation is needed.
The choreographer for this rocking item number is yet to be finalized and things will start moving only after the first schedule of Dhoom 3 starts in March, in Mumbai.
The scene is from ‘Don 2’ and this enthralling car chase sequence scene apparently used up some 67 cars which had been specially shipped from Korea and shut down some important streets in Berlin for three weeks.
It may be mentioned here that Berlin did offer special favors for this SRK-Priyanka Chopra starrer as the Brandenburgh Gate which houses the United States and Russian Consulates was specially blocked for the climax shots of the car chase. Berlin Government made arrangements for provision of alternate routes and diversions to make up for the blocks ways. However, earlier many Hollywood films have been denied the privilege to do the same at this spot.
‘Don 2’ with its chilling action sequences by the Badshah of Bollywood is definitely a film to watch out for!!
