Amrita Rao

Delicately boned, Amrita Rao, has a figure to die for and a face that can launch a million products. This lady has done quite a variety of things in her life already. A graduate in psychology, a trained classical singer and a model, Amrita had already done more than 35 ads before she stepped into Bollywood.

A die hard fan of Shahrukh and Aamir, Amrita was born in June, 1981. She even has a twin sister. Amrita turned down many film offers while she was still in college a she feels education is more important than anything else in life. She began with a fairness cream ad, but got real recognition with the Close Up ad. Commercials like Bru, Cadbury Perk and Liril fell in her lap as well. She was getting noticed by film directors.

Her debut film was opposite Arya Babbar ( son of Raj Babbar) in the film “Ab Ke Baras” in 2002. This film was a complete disaster and Amrita was far from being noticed. Then came Ken Ghosh’s “Ishq Vishk” opposite Shahid Kapoor. This was thankfully a hit and Amrita rao was a known name now.

Different genres of films were now offered to Amrita. From an unmarried widow in “The Legend Of Bhagat Singh”, to the chirpy college goer in Main Hoon Na, she now got to work with stars like Ajay Devgan, Shahrukh Khan and Sushmita Sen. Gradually the slim and slender beauty emerged as a capable actress.

Amrita loves to work hard. In her leisure times she is often found with books or watching some nice hindi movie. She loves drinking nariyal pani and is extremely fond of the color white. She believes that working in a Shahrukh Khan film is like making giant leaps in your career.

Amrita’s recent films include Masti and Vivah. Both have done well commercially and Amrita is now a very famous Bollywood actress. At the moment she is enjoyin the success of her latest flick Vivah. She is looking forward to her forthcoming films, director E.Niwas’ “My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves” and David Dhawan’s “Hook Ya Crook”. She also hopes to sing for her own songs one day.
