Tara Sharma
Tara Sharma was born to an Indian father Pratap Sharma and a British mother, Sue. She was brought up in London and shifted to Mumbai to get into the world of fashion and modeling. She began with the famous Liril ad which gave her a lot of recognition. Her innocent face and a bony structure caught the attention of one and many.
From the very beginning Tara had artistic inclinations. She did a lot of theatre in the UK. Even today she shuttles between Mumbai and London, to accomplish acting and modeling assignments.
Tara began her acting debut when Anupam Kher offered her a role in “Om Jai Jagdish” opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Though it was not a big role, she accepted it because of the big names attached to the project such as Waheeda Rehman, Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan Urmila Matondkar and Mahima Choudhury. Though this film did not fare very well at the box office, Tara was not really criticized.
Then came “Saaya” under the Bhatt camp. Tara was the lead in the film opposite John Abraham along with Harsh Chaya and Raj Zutshi. The movie flopped but Tara was neither criticized nor appreciated.
A number of films then released from 2004 onwards. Some of the films were “Masti”, “Bardaasht”, “Sitam”, “Page 3”, “Aksar” and “Khosla Ka Ghosla”. These films portrayed Tara in a variety of characters. From the over devoted wife in “Masti” to the negative Chandni in “Sitam”, to the young wild girl, Meghna, belonging to a middle class family, in “Khosla Ka Ghosla”, Tara has often surprised the audiences with her acting and roles.
There is a Hungarian film titled “Overnight”, Tara is looking forward to. It is being co-produced by her boyfriend Roopak Saluja. There is another British TV series for which Tara has begun shooting since January 2007. In Bollywood, Tara is awaiting the release of her films “Dulha Mil Gaya”, “Flat” and “Hey Baby”.
Tara admits that she can’t stay away from Mumbai for long. This is the reason why she dropped out of an Italian TV series which required her to stay there for about 10 months! Now that’s a true Indian.
